RF- Robbins

These are just my guesses as to who may be playing where. I am not sure about JUCO transfer Michael Gilbert and where he plays into this lineup. I also think JUCO transfer Matt Durst could be a utility type guy, and possibly play some 3B. I think we have to get him in the lineup for his bat. Also, Connor Barron had a nice Summer, so hopefully he is fully healed and we will finally see his potential this year.
On paper we should be good. The true 3 year JRs and RS Sophs were part of the #3 recruiting class in the nation, but have yet to live up to the hype (or be coached up to the hype).

Pitching-wise, we need Fisk, Nick Johnson, Myrick, Glasshof, Winston, Buccholz and Roney, along with newcomer Christian Talley to be on their game this season. It would be even better if the talented Taylor Nunez could live up to his potential as well. He has the ability to be a weekend starter if he can get things right mentally. Finally, we need Giannini and Livingston to play their roles as set up guys or closers and really shut down teams later in games. Will be interesting to see the starting rotation. I assume Fisk will be the Friday guy and I thought I heard Talley will probably be a weekend starter as well. Myrick would seem to be the choice for the 3rd spot, but if they choose not to use Johnson as a mid-week starter or long relief role, then he should be strongly considered in my opinion for a weekend slot.

Gilbert is probably the backup at both ss and 3b. Should see time when Roney pitches. Doubt Roussel catches except in an emergency. Freshman Chuckie Robinson looks like the best catcher on the team but Durst will start.because of his bat. Ryan Ellis will backup Lynch at first. Bales is my favorite player on the team and i really hope he hits like he did before the back problems. Think he only plays DH because he didn't look good playing first base in Fall practice.

Thanks for the updates. I figured Bales would be one our DHs, and I was just guessing he would play some 1B. I didn't know Ryan Ellis was back from his injury, hadn't heard anything about him in a while...that is good to know. He should help us at the plate as well.
I know Robinson was highly touted, but I wasn't sure if we'd RS him since we have several upperclassmen playing C. Durst has to be in the lineup because of his bat, and I wouldn't be surprised to see he and Robbins batting next to each other.
I figure Roussel has to be in the lineup somewhere (possibly DH) too because he makes things happen and hustles.

USMStud, I just saw where you said Roussel would play LF in another post. That is interesting. Glad to see him in then everyday lineup. I see a lot of potential in this batting lineup, especially if Robbins and Durst hit like they can and Barron and Sterling return to pre-injury form.

Roussell has to be in the everyday lineup.....it's a sin how he was used last year

Agreed! He definitely brought a spark when he was in there. Really hope Barron and Sterling can become On-base machines and bat in the 1-2 spots with Durst and Robbins in the 3-4 spots. I see Roussel as a 5 or 6 hole hitter with Lynch in there as well. I think Roney, Dawson and whoever DHs fill in the final 3 spots with either Dawson or Roney batting 9th because I know Berry likes to have someone with speed in the 9 hole.
Of course, I could be completely wrong.

...but I hope you're right....I try to be a half full guy, but not in this sport this year....no way

...so he can try to bunt/bunt, walk/bunt/, hbp/bunt in the 9/1 spot......I have never understood his batting position logic.....his batting lineup shuffling was beyond stupid last year....

any talent that ever played the sport into hs understands how consistency and security affect psyche

I dubbed him Berry the Butcher last year b/c of his bs.

Sterling and Roussel will hit 1-2. Followed by Robbins, Durst and Lynch. The 6-9spots probably Roney, Barron, DH, Dawson.
Lineup likely to change some depending on whether a eighty or lefty is starting on the mound.

I'm looking forward to this up-coming series with Rice in Miami. This is starting to look like the real test for FIU (are we for real?) at least until the "other" dirty birds ride down in April. I'm hoping to go in undefeated for Rice but that is a very long shot in baseball especially with the Charlotte away series coming up first. And we got USF for one game right before Rice.
