Breast Cancer Awareness
Let me start off by saying that raising such awareness - and by extension, private donations - for a terrible disease is a very good thing.
But there's no denying that the exposure is everywhere, from college/pro football games to pizza commercials. So then I wonder... is the PR communications director of this cause a pure genius who should get hired immediately by the top advertising agency? Or is it because it's a disease that strikes a demographic that has a historical precedence in being pushed aside/victimized (in this case, females), so it's more "politically correct" to focus energy and marketing campaigns toward it? A mix of both?
One can't deny that a host of other diseases - heart disease, leukemia, lung cancer, prostate cancer, Alzheimers, Parkinson's, Down's, etc., - don't get even a fraction of the public attention. And I've become increasingly fascinated by this as "pink" is now seemingly everywhere when October comes around. I mean, good for them, but the other diseases sure have a long way to catch up in terms of publicity.

I think that by now everyone is aware of breast cancer. At this point, I think the money and effort should go to finding a cure.

With so much exposure, there's a risk of turning people off form what's an important cause.
