I have a hard time taking Baylor seriously
Baylor's offense is great and they are fun to watch. However, I can't take them seriously with this non-conference schedule:

2013
08/31 - Wofford
09/07 - Buffalo
09/21 - ULM

2014
08/30 - SMU
09/06 - Northwestern State
09/13 - at Buffalo

2015
09/05 - at SMU
09/12 - Lamar
09/26 - Rice

2016
09/03 - Northwestern State
09/17 - SMU
09/24 - at Rice

2017
09/02 - at SMU
09/09 - UTSA
09/23 - Duke

2018
09/08 - at UTSA
09/15 - at Duke
09/22 - SMU

2019
08/31 - at SMU
09/07 - UTSA
09/14 - at Rice

So in 7 years, the ONLY power conference team they play is DUKE. Ridiculous.

Take 'em seriously or not, they are playing out of this world right now...

I was skeptical as well until 8 minutes into the 2nd quarter in the WVU game and the score was 49-7.

RE: I have a hard time taking Baylor seriously
People seem to always be able to find excuses when it comes to giving credit where credit is due.

The season is still early and Baylor's big games are coming up. Playing that round robin in the Big 12, I certainly do not blame them for not having a lights out OOC schedule.

The round robin in the Big12 is favorable to a schedule in the Pac12 or others, especially with Texas being irrelevant.

I also have to say, Art is one hell of a coach. He built Houston and he's done the same at Baylor.

Big 12 round robin isn't that daunting. Most of the other higher profile teams in the conference are playing power teams.

Well Baylor will be playing those teams so if Baylor beats them then that is all that will matter. They will incorporate those teams SoS with the win.

I said it earlier in the season, if Baylor keeps this up they'll find themselves in the top 5 with a valid argument for more in their back pocket.

I'm sure he is on the list.

People talk about him being too old but Texas wants to win and Art is a proven winner in the state.

True enough, but wouldn't you agree if they had scheduled and won 1 game against an average to better P5 team they would be ranked a lot higher right now?

Of course but they know that the rankings right now really don't matter all that much. If they get the big conference wins they will be sitting pretty.

It's the ranking at the end of the season that matters. All the early season polls are irrelevant once December rolls around...

Of course, it's hard to argue with a team that is 10-0, especially when they play in a major conference.

My point is that this may well be a better Baylor team than the one of which RGIII was a part. In a year where multiple unbeaten teams may exist at the end of the regular season, all of which start more highly ranked than Baylor, it is not unforeseeable that the Bears will fail to get justly evaluated. The polls tend not to move a team over one that started more highly ranked provided they both finish unblemished. So I still stand by my statement. They are a much better team at this point in the season than the ranking of 15 indicates and they have a lot of bodies to have to crawl over to get into the hunt for a championship game.

The major problem for Baylor this year may be that we could end up seeing more than just two undefeated teams that are in major conferences or are slated to soon be so. Hell, we may end up seeing more than four which would already prove the National Tournament to be incomplete and thus faulty.

That's the risk you run when you use this strategy. It's hard to win a foot race coming from so far behind.

I don't think having too many undefeated at the end of the year is going to be a problem. It rarely is...

That's not to say it couldn't happen. But the odds are against it...

That's true. With the weak OOC scheduling though...

16 of the AP top 25 are 5-0 right now. I know it is just 5-0 but I have seen some very credible scenario's portrayed that show how very realistic it is that we end up with more than just 2 undefeated teams from major conferences. It is more of a stretch that we end up with 5 or more but it is still very possible when you break down the schedules of each still undefeated team.
