I'm sure we get a similar deal with the Miami bowl.

I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 of these bowls are rotational shared bowls with no anchor conference.

You're probably right. The only way these small, newly-created bowls will make money and survive is if the conferences work together in sending schools that are a good geographic fit for each.

The AAC is the anchor in Miami (vs. Go5), St Pete (vs. P5 & us), Birmingham (vs. P5), and Annapolis (vs. P5)... but also has squeezed out equal rotations in Boca (vs. Go5), Dallas (vs. P5 & us), and Hawaii (vs. Go5). Crazy - it initially looked like they were going to be nearly shut out and now they have the strongest Go5 slate and promise more bowl announcements coming.

Maybe if your perspective is from North Carolina. From Houston, I see shared bowls in Dallas/Fort Worth for the AAC, and then the next closest bowl is in Alabama. C-USA has the same Dallas/Fort Worth share plus New Orleans, Albuquerque, and the back-up in Shreveport. From the West, I like C-USA better.

As do I. By far.

I would assume that the other two years we aren't playing in the Boca Bowl will be Miami/Bahamas related, maybe just Miami. If it's just two years in Miami, I bet we get a 3 years or so in Bahamas. Originally it had been announced that it would be CUSA vs. MAC in the Bahamas, but that's clearly not the case anymore.
Looks like we'll have around 5.5 primary ties.

I think you're right on the money here. Sounds like the AAC/MAC/CUSA worked on these 3 bowls to switch them around. Avoids burnout (Been to the same place 3 times in a row) but still gives access to S. Florida as a destination for 6 of thier teams each year. And as someone said the ideal situation for AAC and CUSA would to be have a Florida team in 2 (if not all 3) bowls to help attendance and have another from out of town to help with Hotel/travel considerations.

Its an innovative idea that bucks the tradition of X and Y go here, except if Y cannot, then Z attends. This allows the confrences and ESPN to determine the "best" matchup from a travel/attendance/TV perspecitve. I have no idea if it will work but it certainly is creative.

Exactly. G5 conferences and bowls are going to have to work together to be profitable. It's a welcome development. I hate watching bowl games where 3/4 of the stadium is empty.

Actually, they'd probably prefer out of town teams. The bowl exists to promote tourism to the area. The best case for FAU/Boca Raton would be for FAU to be good enough to get to a different bowl game and to get 2 teams who will each bring 10,000-15,000 visitors to stay in hotels and spend money for a week.
Agree, they might like one of the fla teams, for seat sale, but would prefer some one from out of town on the other side. example FIU vs ECU, or FAu vs Memphis.

That's more like it; a Florida school (preferably from S. Fla) v. a team that travels well. If not a S. Fla school then U_F v. a Marshall, MTSU or Southern Miss.

I know Marshall brought a solid 10,000 to the BOB a few years back but you still need a Florida school to fill the seats on the other side.

UCF brought over 20,000 to the bob against Rutgers. Sold out our allotment of 10,000 when we played at the liberty bowl against miss state and bought more in the secondary market. We have had 2 games played off campus at the citrus bowl with crowds over 50k and getting 40k at home isn't a big deal. ESPN doesn't care about local hotels. They don't want an empty stadium. They will be very happy to get UCF in one of these games.

UCF is just wonderful.

Not enough bowls for a 14 team conference. We certainly don't need to be looking at new additions with this bowl lineup in place. I'm not happy about rotating in the HOD bowl either. I have no idea why we agreed to that. And, why are we rotating in the Boca Bowl? What did we get from the other conferences that made sharing it a good idea?

I would agree, but as long as we secure a few backup deals, they're pretty much guaranteed to be open in most seasons. Six primary deals would be ideal. I'm fine with rotating Boca/Miami/Bahamas if it equals two full tie ins over the six year period, as that was what we had assumed (Previous info had us hosting Boca and Bahamas) until the announcements made in the past few days. Now it looks more like 1.5 ties instead of 2, which is a little disappointing.

I like the rotating concept in general. It will keep teams from competing in the same bowl every season, even if they do go to the same general area two years in a row. For example, if UNT was bowl eligible for two straight seasons, HoD one year and Armed Forces the next wouldn't be awful - and would provide two different experiences instead of the same one twice.

I don't really mind rotating the new bowls, but I hate the idea of rotating the HOD (vs.Big12/10). If that is our top bowl going forward, then it should be ours exclusively. I don't see the AAC sharing the Military Bowl (vs. ACC) or the Birmingham Bowl (vs. SEC). Just my opinion.

What has brought on the renaissance at UCF? Was it the new stadium? USF's invite to the Big East ahead of you? The hiring of O'Leary? Culpepper signing a while back? The large I-4 population explosion? Just thinking we need to catch some of that lightning.

OCS, new arena, the area around UCF has turned very college friendly with for student apartments and college bars. The way the campus is set up gives it a traditional college feel. Brick buildings with the parking lots creating a large perimeter around the college buildings and dorms. Their campus reminds me a lot of a UF to FAU hybrid. UF's architecture with FAU's layout (which forces students to walk to every class, instead of parking and leaving.)

Biggest change was the on-campus stadium along with the move to the C-USA. Culpepper legitimized our program, but we went through some rough times after that. We are a little lucky that we are pretty far from the other majors (FSU, UF, and Miami).

FAU/FIU can do the same although it take years to build the culture. We still have our issues, but it is getting better. You guys were smarter getting an on-campus stadium earlier in the program.
