That looks like it will be a miserable experience for the fans who actually want to watch the football game. For the people who are more interested in making history or experiencing such a large crowd, it will be cool; but for the actual football people, that is going to suck out loud.

Is it much worse than the view you get from watching a race? 03-confused

Significantly worse. The nearest player will be 100-200' away from the first row stands - whereas cars are immediately in front of them - and players are obviously significantly smaller than cars and won't be as easily viewed.

VT started selling tickets prior to last season. I don't know how well ticket sales are going.

If I were a VT fan...I'm not sure I would want to go to that game. I'd rather watch it on TV. I've been at Michigan stadium when Cuse killed UM in '98..trust me watching a game there sucked...I can't imagine watching a game at a Speedway would be a good experience.

Put me in a 30-65k stadium any day of the week.

Don't u want or be part of history - with 160000 plus it will be the largest attended football game ever--it will be nationally marketed and ESPN I heard will bring their entire platform there - already Bristol speedway folks are working on moving the inner track facilities to prepare for the field -

You can bet it will be a night game and the festivities of 160000folks will be insane- it's a huge marketing game for both schools -contracts have been signed and already I've heard 40k of tickets already sold

For guys on this board this event was announced by the 2 schools and Bristol speedway way last summer-

Yes football is more than fsu Clemson

Tenn. co-worker of mine told me 40,000 sold from their side alone. If VT has sold 40,000, this is shaping up. 04-rock

Just my opinion, but not everyone goes to the Kentucky Derby to watch the race. I hope this game gets 160,000 in attendance.

Ditto. I suspect the best seat in the grandstands is still going to be 30 yards away from the field.

The teams will enter under the yellow on Pace Cars. They'll pit after the first two quarters.

A fan at this game has a better chance of seeing the field of play than most of the people at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May.

How much are tickets? If they're cheap hell I might drive up to see it.

BTW, this means Tennessee will open '16 at Bristol against Virginia Tech and open '17 at the brand new Falcons stadium against Georgia Tech.

I endorse this new ACC vs TN scheduling paradigm. 05-stirthepot

How close is that UT/GT 2017 Chick-Fil-A Kickoff deal to being done?

Don't let 'em cheat y'all out of a bunch of money!

As a fan of one of the schools...I would expect that reaction from you...it will be "the CFB event" that weekend and that is cool...just personal opinion I fear the sightlines will suck, traffic will be nightmarish and if the game is close...the traffic leaving will be epic. I assume the way to go is to get a RV or camper and stay the whole weekend.

I can definitely see how the actual viewing experience might suck despite the uniqueness of the event.

Well, the people in the area have a couple decades worth of experience in getting 160k people out of the area in a short period of time at least twice a year.

1. True, but traffic is still a nightmare even with thousands of people camping on race weekends.
2. UT & VT each get 40k tix to sell & Bristol Motor Speedway will sell the rest. Regular stadium tickets start at $40 for endzone & top out at $140 for sideline. Season ticket holders for Bristol races get priority & have received info on allocation for tickets, parking, & camping assignment based on longevity, etc. Once interested Bristol season ticket holders have been assigned, then NASCAR Sprint Cup & NHRA combo ticket holders will have a chance to request tickets. Once those ticket holders have been assigned, THEN the general public has a shot.

Meh....just do what us smart people do at Clemson.......post-game tailgate until the traffic thins out. We'll come back out, turn on the big screen, fire up the grill to reheat the food, drink a couple cold ones and usually the the time we are ready to go the only holdup we have between Clemson and I85 is the traffic lights.

The average Tennessee fan will be sure to pack enough to feel at home in case he finds it necessary to spend the night in the parking lot.
