OT: UAB Football
At what point do you guys think enough is enough? I think they should be given a ten year deadline to produce one season with 6-7 wins vs FBS teams by the University of Alabama BOT. I'm not trolling UAB but nearly every football playing middle school, high school, and college is a huge draw in the football centric state of Alabama. There is even a high school that had a TV show on MTV and historically black schools that have brought over 66,000 to UAB's stadium.
I would actually love to see the University of Alabama Huntsville get an FCS team and stadium in place of UAB.

UA keeps them where they are. I'm not mad about it. The only team in the state that matters plays for THE University of Alabama, all others are afterthoughts and wannabes.

Why does it matter to you? Is UAB taking money from Troy (crybaby) freaking st?
One more question even with it being OT...why do you think SBC fans would care? So say what you want but the fact that you posted this here....
you're trolling UAB

As long as UA is holding them back and not letting them leave their dump of a stadium they will have little to no success. It is really sad that they cannot get any real support and be allowed to have a bit of independence, but the big boys in Tuscaloosa apparently don't think that it is good for UAB to have any success.

Funny coming from a team in Louisiana that's in a pretty similar predicament. ULL is a few losing seasons away from being in the exact same predicament attendance wise.

UAB is a little sister institution; why would we be concerned with their growth? It's a satellite campus in our system.

Why is it crap? They are support institutions that's why they have letters denoting cities whereas there is only one University of the State.
Troy is just in a worse situation than even UL. You have 2 programs that are dramatically higher and more important.

But the fact that ULL has winning seasons is that much better then UAb. UAb has one bowl appearance in their existence, and they lost that. They fired the only coach that gave them any success and they have been chasing that success ever since. UAb is the perfect "Little Engine that Could" team. Should have all kind of success and support and has neither. UAb has had flashes of support, but they tend to lose the games that are being watched and that support goes away. When McGee came in, he drum up some support and hope, that has now all slipped away.

I dont think that UA should be concerned with their growth, It just seems a little odd that they would not approve a stadium that better fits the needs of UAB.

It's because the UA system is set up different than a lot of others. UA, UAB, and UAH are not 'sister' institutions. It's a vertical lineup in the minds of the Trustees. They exist as part of UA and because of that their peripheral activities serve the interests of the flagship.
It sucks for UAB but that's how it's set up. They are not an equal within the system.

I think it was more of an idea of "Why build a stadium that no one will go to?" I think to me it show more along the lines that UA would rather shut that program down then invest money into a hole of a program(financially). As far as I know, no one has donated money for UAb to build a stadium, where is the concerned alumni???

One would think that they could get a few big donations to get something rolling. I guess that shows what shape the program is in.
