does espn3 work through chromecast?
i have been doing some researching on that google chromecast, and i was wondering, does it work with espn3 watch espn app and an android phone? im hoping that if it does work, i may buy one soon in time for the niu/central michigan game. so i am asking around for feedback before i make a decision whether to get it or not.

I don't know about Cromecast but I know AppleTV works great. WatchESPN is built right into it...no need for a phone or iPad.

The Chromecast is a great little device and I like mine. While I use Espn3 on my Xbox I THINK I did use it once on my Chromecast.

I'd double check though.....I can't remember.

Chromecast is on my Sh-t list right now. Damn thing is sitting on my table, can't get it to work with the Xfinity provided wifi device...argh. I thought it'd be great.

It won't work with a phone or tab yet. But it works with a computer using the Chrome browser. Check your machine out, you may have to right click the link and tell it to open in a new tab.

Invest in a good Wi-Fi router. Totally worth it.

I don't think there are any spectrum problems, it's just that the only android apps that work with it are youtube and netflix - that should change. The cast from the Chrome browser works fine; the issue is getting the stream to run from a tab and not a new window. Also, you have to have good equipment. What shows up in your browser is what you get on thr TV.

ESPN3 by way of Hulu Plus is not a viable option. You might be able to bypass this through playontv, but I'm unsure if this is supported or reliable.

If your leaning towards an "Android" supported connection, your best bet is to stream ESPN3 (Watch ESPN) through a PC / Laptop and Chromecast.

It works like a charm.

Apple TV works just as well, too.

Sorry, that was meant for NIU84 since he said it wasn't working on his Comcast provided router.

I watched the Kent St. game flawlessly with it via ESPN 3 and the Chromecast. Just open up the stream in a Chrome browser window, make it full screen, and cast it. When you click a ESPN 3 link it opens a new window that can't be casted. Just copy/paste that link into a normal Chrome tab and you'll be good to go.

Worth the $35.

That works with a Live stream, I can't get it to work with a Replay though.

right click near the toolbar and select open in tab. Once it's in a tab you can cast it. This is how I watch the replays of the WMU beatdowns on my chromecast.

It works for a live game. But on the Replay it brings up the opening screen, then after a bit I get an Error 303 which is a redirect error. And, you're either a masochist, or a really good fan.
