Peterson Stays Until Retirement - I'm Gone Until Then
After at least thirty (30) continuous years as a season ticket holder for UALR Basketball, I am not renewing my season tickets. That is not to say that I will not continue to avidly follow the Trojans. I will be a UALR Basketball fan until the day I die.
But when we learned today that Chris Peterson is planning on continuing as the UALR Athletic Director until he retires, it sealed the deal for me to no longer support the way he does business out there with my season tickets purchase. If and when we ever get new leadership in the position of Athletic Director I will enthusiastically come back and not only buy season tickets again, but resume promoting the program as I have done over the course of the last three decades.

Maybe we do get "too close" to the program here. Not sure I've ever heard a fan not buy season tickets because they don't like the AD. Maybe the coach, but not the AD. I've supported college programs in other stops around the country, and I couldn't tell you who the AD was then or now. Other than the AD at Fayetteville and Mike Hamrick, I couldn't name another AD anywhere in the country.

The really sad thing about you not renewing after 30 years is this, Peterson does not care one bit. Old time fans mean nothing to him, look at what he did to the Tip In Club (that useless $25 club)

That is certainly part of the problem. Maybe eventually the Chancellor will care.

I am saddened by great fans like you, Scotto and InsideUALR not renewing your season tickets. Like many, I have become a UALR fan for life, and love the Winter evenings at the arena. I think back to bus trips and pre game sandwiches, et al, at Barton. It's bad enough when people become ill or we have good fans die off, but when friends leave the program because of personal feelings about an AD or a coach, that's doubly unsettling. I hope all of you will reconsider and hang on through these times. Obviously I don't know how long Chris or Steve will be here, and it might be past my lifetime, but I'll continue to support the team as long as I'm physically able and would hope that all my long time Trojan friends will do the same. Don't let your feelings toward an individual sour you on supporting the team. The kids are what we're supporting. Coaches and AD's come and go.

Don't know about that, but I have thought for years that the cancellor and President of the UA system were afraid of Broyles. Don't really think that Peterson has that kind of clout.
Unless he's completely stupid, the Chancellor has got to be able to see the damn program is falling apart. All he's got to do is just look around at all the empty seats. If I'm the boss and I see that, then I've got to see the figures for season ticket sales for the past ten years. Maybe they could hang a black curtain like they use to do at Alltel in the upper level and put everyone down below, or start playing at the Trojan Fieldhouse.
What I can't understand is, obviously money has got to be getting tight, and we've dropped a sport or two, but we keep adding people in the athletic administration.

They are not adding people, they are replacing people who have fled the Peterson regime

"Ad's come and go". True. But when? Will this program survive until Peterson retires? Or will Peterson's retirement coincide with the demise of our program?

What do you have to lose by attending the games this year? The program is going to go on this year. It hasn't collapsed.
Maybe it will someday, but as long as it's there why stop supporting it? I really don't see the program going away. Oh well. I plan to be there this year as long as I can get to the arena. I'll worry about next year later.

Why did the people of Syria quit supporting Assad? Why did the people of Germany continue to support Hitler? At some point a stand must be taken or shame on you and me!

I just have my doubts your "stand" will hurt who you want to hurt. It will just result in the kids having to play one more money game next season. Pretty clear that Chris will be here until he choses to leave or retire.

Maybe it's time to send in the troops.

Or to just take a stand against this regime.

Well sure, but at least it got a response. I just hope there is a viable program to return to when "Himself" is done here.
