Championship game to stay in Charlotte

No timeline given but it sounds like they are in it for the foreseeable future.

Makes sense. The league has done a much better job supporting it in Charlotte than any where else it's been played.

The game should NEVER leave Charlotte. Ever.

However, if it is to ever leave Charlotte on a periodic basis, Baltimore or D.C. are the only two acceptable locales (as long as the SEC has a stranglehold on Atlanta).

One of the contributing factors as to why the ACC is in the funk it's in is because we had ACCCG match-ups hosted in Florida that would have fared better in Charlotte (both VT/BC games, plus the Wake/GT game).

Yep, even though I imagine it was probably a desire of my school, the game should NEVER have been anywhere but Charlotte. Charlotte seemed like a no-brainer from the start.

There's only one state you can put that game in which the ACC doesn't take a back seat to either the SEC or pro sports. If you want any chance for it to be a successful event, and viewed as "big time" by the community, it HAS to be in Charlotte.

If it's ever determined that Charlotte doesn't work, then you go to home stadiums, but no other neutral site location makes a lick of sense.

This is a smart move.

I agree. If it has to be a neutral site, then Charlotte makes the most sense of all the potential candidates. I still think the Pac-12's home sites model is the way for the ACC to go but as long as we're employing this model, Charlotte is the choice.

Washington, DC or Baltimore? Let me think about that. Hell no.

I think the way to do it is the ACC's model in Charlotte. It allows the conference to build up corporate relationships, etc, with the Charlotte community. Sort of like a bowl game. It is mostly about generating revenue, after all, isn't it? Is Boston College's appearance creating 10K empty seats in Charlotte one year more important than the $ Bank of America or Lowes is going annually shell out for a giant block of corporate sweets?

Remember the way things are moving too....like the ACC-branded restaurant opening up at RDU. Push that type of SEC-like branding across NC. And really, NC is the only place you can really get that to take off.

I think, combining both financial considerations and attendance, Charlotte is the most prudent move.

Good. I like the championship being in Charlotte. Big games coming up soon this season will set up for a GREAT ACC championship game. Just imagine a game between FSU and Miami in Charlotte or Clemson and Miami (or VT, but hey I think the 'Canes win division 03-razz).

To be fair to the Eagles, they played in Florida, not N Carolina... BC might bring more fans to Charlotte, I suspect (just based on the number of Bostonians living in the area).

A lot of people from the northeast live in Florida, too...

BC won't travel that well regardless. It's a long drive from Boston (13 hours) so most people would fly. And if you're going to fly, flying into Florida as opposed to Charlotte doesn't make much difference. BC's not a huge school so they'll just have a smaller fanbase to begin with.

I hope the Hokie FB team is looking ahead this Saturday. I'll be there personally to find out. 05-stirthepot
