I thought the same thing except I forgot about the rain.

I had seats in the "club" area for Albany ... the rail was full ... lots of empty seats .... the club was packed .... I can tell you most were at indoor tables for the entire game .... people were walking and talking, doing business, just there to "be seen" .... there were easily several hundred people inside at any given time ... not sure if it was a "rain or shine" thing.
As a club member who always sits outside for the game, I can confirm that most people who come into the club never make it to the seats. They stay inside to be seen and socialize versus actually coming out to support the team. It is a good problem to have. The good thing is JMU is getting the money whether they stay inside or go to the seats. The bad thing is that we look awful on TV in the club seat section. Not sure what can be done about this other than when we are on tv make an announcement encouraging club members to get outside. Even when it's perfect weather the club seats are only 75% at most filled. I dislike those people that see the game more as a social event but it's a decision for them to make. Most of them have no idea that the club and all the modern amenities did not exist 5 years ago.

I have club seats. It is much more of a bar/restaurant atmosphere in there. At any given time, I would guess 50% of the club is inside partying/eating.
I like the club, but it doesn't feel like you're at a game unless you go to your seats.
Yeah, it's really bad, and I never see that side of the stadium, so I had no idea. Those that complain of student attendance need to realize they don't exactly have a good example to follow right in front of them.
Erect a 12' chain link fence around the club level, some razor wire on top. Issue purple and yellow striped jammies to the club level folks, tell them there is a sleepover out in the seat area, let them bring there booze out there and get those dadgumseats full.
I miss the good old days of general admission tickets when my wife and I would choose to stand in the student section behind what was then our bench on the Godwin side, now that was some rootin!

That's the way it was when I arrived at JMU, then the other side stands were built, and I never wanted to go over there even after graduating. I think I sat in those stands, that have now been dismantled to build the new BFS, maybe three times. Just always preferred the Godwin side, except for the band playing to the other side. Oh how things change, now I never go over to the Godwin side. This is what must happen to JMU, accept CHANGE, embrace CHANGE, and eventually love the CHANGE.

They really need to allow drinking at one's seats. Are they afraid alcohol will be transferred to the section next to them.
JMU needs to realize the cash cow beer sales will be in bridgeforth.
Simmons has some jets doesn't he? That point where he's around the 35 it looks like there are two RU players who might have an angle and he just blows by them.

100 yards in just under 11 seconds...and that includes waiting for the hole to open up. If he can get into open field I don't know that there's anyone who's going to catch him.

If we're being completely honest with ourselves one of those guys is the kicker and the other guy kind of go taken out of the play by the kicker.
Still, he's incredibly fast. The entire video is 19 seconds and that includes the kick, hang time and celebration afterwards. From what I can tell, he catches it at about 3.5 seconds and scores at around 14.5 seconds. That's a hundred yards - through tacklers - in about 11 seconds. Usain Bolt's 100m dash world record is 9.58 seconds (yes, I know that Simmons only actually ran about 93 meters, this is just for comparison's sake).

Hard to tell from the Godwin side, but from my seat, I thought he even let off and coasted those final 10 yards.

Ha, it's hard to sprint all out and plan your post-TD celebration at the same time. Yeah, he's fast - really fast.

Indeed...I timed it at just under 11 seconds. And that's with pads, waiting for the hole to open, and probably coasting towards the end. He has some incredible speed. I'd love to see him at practice or something just take off and see how long it would take him to get from endzone to endzone. Would he break 10.3-10.5 seconds?
All right, I loaded the video into an editor. It looks like he catches the ball and begins moving forward right around the 3.03 second mark. It's hard to tell exactly when he crosses the goal line but it appears his right right foot lands on the goal line at about the 14.914 mark. So that's 11.884 seconds. He's about two yards deep in the end zone when he starts. Doing the math he averaged around 17.556 MPH for those 102 yards. For reference, the 100m time of the top guy on that list jmufan2008 posted averaged around 21.76 MPH. Of course that was almost certainly done on a straight line track without pads and no hesitating or letting off.
