RE: NIU Nationally Ranked
I think Toledo scares me more than Ball State at home. Every time NIU beats UT at UT, I feel lucky. Don't get me wrong, Ball State will be tough, but at least we get a little bump playing them at home.

NIU is not looking like the teams of old. Is it just me? Why do I feel like BSU should be the front runner? Another unimpressive win by 7 at home. CMU will be a test above Akron. Then I can compare NIU and UT. Keep winning though. Makes conference mates proud.
You're looking for reasons to downgrade NIU right now. Last week you were talking about how NIU "only" beat Kent State by 14 (on the road) and now this week Ball State beats Kent State by 3 (at home) and you don't mention it, but you do mention NIU struggling with Akron. Ball State also lost to North Texas.
NIU is 6-0. They've won the conference back to back years. They could very well lose to Ball State and Toledo, but there's no question who the front runner is.

I think Toledo with NIU's schedule is undefeated though, with larger point differentials vs. the bad teams, and NIU is 3-3 with our schedule... I could be crazy. Time will tell.

The only team NIU has beaten is Iowa with a better sagarin than us. UT's SOS is way higher than NIU's. Maybe losing to BSU is a stretch, and it would take a minor upset for us to beat Iowa, but no way NIU has a highs chance to beat Mizzou or UF. NIU vs. Toledo game spread will be near a TD. Closer if we win out until then. Drill CMU and change my mind if NIU is still the best team in the MAC.
Like OU last season, beating one good team and winning close MAC games is how they did it. Just because NIU has a past, I won't dismiss the fact their SOS isn't high and that they havent't played anyone with a D like Florida or Mizzou.
Comparatively I like Toledo this year. But honestly I like BSU more than us.

I'll take 8 more wins like the first 6 NIU had.

Won't happen because NIU will play 4 >= Iowa if they play 14. So 8 more wins can't be like the first 6. They'd be much greater wins.
I watched Toledo sneak by everyone last year (52-49 vs. EMU, 25-20 vs. Buffalo). In the end we were as talented as BSU and NIU, but lost em both because we couldn't finish. We weren't accustomed to playing with a large lead, especially vs. teams that could score in the last few minutes. If NIU only sneaks by CMU, and doesn't dominate WMU and EMU like they are capable of, it could be exactly like Toledo last season.
Some of your fans are very cautious, respect their wins so far, but know the climb ahead is tougher than the first 6 games. I agree with those fans. BSU actually is in the drivers seat because they have a better MAC record than NIU with the best MAC win.
Take it one game at a time, and possibly NIU could be in another BCS bowl. To expect it because of the past is irrational IMO.

RE: NIU Nationally Ranked
My head hurts. You lost two close games because you weren't used to playing with large leads? I have no idea why you're comparing NIU to Toledo last year either. NIU has shown no problem finishing games this year, thus they're 6-0.

The same Ball State team that nearly got beat by KSU this week? And secondly, please do not look at Sagarin, that is THE most horrendous computer ranking system ever created by man.

It'll be well connected in a few weeks and the FCS teams will all drop. But at least by the sagarin we covered our spread vs. an also very good EWU team. I love the sagarins. Three different rankings depending on which factors you want to judge. They use part of it in the BCS, like it or not it's better than journalists voting.
