Week 7 BCS projected standings
Here are BCS projections I calculated with a spreadsheet, it is of course based on limited data and includes
1) Coaches Poll
2) Coaches + AP (to simulate Harris)
3) Simulated projections of 6 BCS computers
More accurate projections will of course be available once the individual computers come out tonight. I will be curious to see how close I am to the BCS guru once the computers become available. Just from a quick look, it looks like a real tough haul for either Fresno or NIU to climb very high over the next few weeks. The top 20 is pretty darn solid

RE: Week 7 BCS projected standings
NIU has a good shot at finishing ahead of Fresno State with 3 more solid games on the schedule; Toledo, Ball State and MAC Championship game.
All Fresno State has is the MWC Championship game as a resume booster.

That means that each week NIU's game is important + 10 more games... (some of those teams need to lose).
That's what makes CFB so much fun. I doubt NIU fans will get excited to play EMU but they will be excited to see the other top two dozen teams who are playing that day...
Good luck.

I think most NIU fans are expecting a humbling experience in the Glass Bowl this year that will end these hopes if they are not squashed sooner by Ball State who may be playing the best football in the conference. NIU is also capable of losing any of the other games before those two though, I think the trip to Mt Pleasant especially has NIU fans concerned.
Just looking at these projections, I think FSU has really set itself up good, they are extremely high in the computers so any loss by the teams above them will really catapult them. If I was a handicapper right now, Id put my money on a Oregon/Florida St national championship.

Counting chickens already? NIU still has to play BSU and UT. With they way their defense has played, they could lose both. Last time NIU came to Mt. Pleasant they found themselves on the losing end as well.

I realize NIU has a long way to go.
All I'm saying is if you are basing their chances against Fresno State if both schools go undefeated NIU has a stronger remaining schedule.

I agree with Kittenhead in that if both teams went undefeated NIU would probably get the nod right now, but we will know a ton more next week with the Harris poll. Hopefully Joe Novak can do his part in inflating the NIU rank a bit.

+1 I'm not expecting a loss. I might be expecting a shootout but NIU over the last 4 seasons has found ways to win close games period.

That is a mark of a good team, winning your close games, IMO.
