No more losses for either til the NIU vs. BSU game. Want an NIU win so Toledo can have a shot at the MACW. If we drop a game before, then I will root for NIU so revenge will be sweeter in the glass bowl knowing we beat a solid team.

With how close it is between NIU and Fresno, that could potentially be the decider in dictating the strength Fresno gets in the MWC championship.

Other thoughts from this thread...

Please do not post Sagarin information, that is THE worst ranking system ever created by man, complete garbage. Also a Fresno team would not be top 12 with a loss in the conference championship anyway.

You need to add "I think" in front of "Fresno is about...". I think NIU would be slightly ahead if Wolf did his rankings this week.

I don't understand how Sagarin is even considered. How can Iowa be ranked ahead of NIU. How can Boise State and Rutgers be ranked ahead of Fresno State. It's complete garbage.

NIU will have to start blowing teams out, especially bad MAC teams to move up. Struggle and NIU will drop, just like Michigan did after struggling with Akron and UCONN.

then they lost to psu, so they are totally screwed

fresno has done more than niu this yr. Rutgers and Boise are good teams (yeah, both were last second squeekers, but so was niu over iowa) . Colorado isn't good but are pac10. they also have a perfect schedule w the big games at home and two mid-late season bye weeks to rest up for the big conf games. all they need to do is avoid a road loss late season against a couple solid conf teams like Wyoming and San Jose, but they do still have a conf title game as well.

NIU beat a good team in Iowa on the road. their win at purdue is basically equal to fsu over Colorado. NIU should be ranked higher, but I can't say they are ahead of fresno.

ball st is really good they just played a lousy half of football at n texas and blew a big lead. if they hadn't had that letdown they would be an interesting situation. i actually think ball st would be a better bcs upset type team as wenning is able to step up and dissect a defense and the team is really solid w execution. still don't know if they beat niu.

Fresno didn't play Colorado, it was cancelled. Also, Rutgers is not good.

Rutgers only losses are to ranked teams, much tougher SOS than NIU. I'd say they are at least good.

Rutgers lost to Houston who isn't ranked. That being said, yes their losses are to good teams. But they got drubbed yesterday. They should have lost to smu as well.

Iowa has lost only to ranked teams, and very good ones.

At the end of the year, NIU will have a better resume if they go undefeated. Like a far better resume. But if Fresno doesn't lose, they could end up playing Troy in mobile, al does that seem fair?

I thought it was South Alabama in Detroit? Now that would be an epic matchup. 03-zzz

Bet we would bring about 100 fans and S. Alabama will bring about 50. But we are the Bowl killers. So it would be fitting.

A 13-0 NIU and 12-0 Fresno, NIU would deserve it as their games vs BSU and Toledo would give them a better end of year SOS than Fresno easily.

Fresno did not play Colorado. The game was cancelled because of the flooding in Boulder and will not be made up, so Fresno will only play 11 regular season games.

Here is a wildcard in the BCS Buster derby. Brigham Young is currently 6-2 and rated 28/30 in the polls. They play a much tougher schedule than the other nonBCS teams. BYU has already beaten Texas, Georgia Tech, Boise, and Houston. Their losses were to Virginia and Utah. Here is the longshot kicker. They still have games at top 25 Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Should they win those two games I could see them possibly jumping NIU/Fresno. 10-2 against that schedule should be worth a top 15 rating.

Computers wont let that happen, too big of a climb for BYU.

UCF will make a BCS bowl with the conference championship route but I just don't see them getting past an undefeated NIU or Fresno. They just don't have that big game left on their schedule to impress anyone. Plus their ascent is being slowed by the computers. Now if UCF loses twice, then Louisville probably will shut NIU and Fresno out.

RE: BCS Buster watch
Remember for this year UCF has little to do with NIU making the bowl game. The only way it matters is if NIU is ranked 13-16 and UCF is the AAC champ in which case we need NIU to rank ahead of them. If NIU is ranked 12th or better UCF does not matter at all (though Fresno might matter). The only other situation would be if NIU and UCF were up for at large but in that case I highly doubt they take NIU (or really UCF for that matter) but then it could matter.

UCF is in a BCS conference (AAC). Its Fresno or NIU that's it. If, NIU finishes 13-0 they will be in the Fiesta Bowl. I don't believe a 12-0 Fresno St will finishes ahead of NIU. There is such a small chance that both teams finish with no losses. Fresno already has had 4-games that they should've lost. NIU has had a couple close games, but none that they should've lost!

Fresno will play 13 games, they have the MWC championship this year against most likely Boise State.

RE: BCS Buster watch
Currently Fresno is a shade above NIU in the BCS (0.3369 vs 0.3335). It is telling to examine the ratings components. The computers give NIU 0.510 vs. 0380 for FSU. The Bulldogs overtake the Huskies in the two human polls: .3712 vs .2500 (Harris) and 0.3497 vs. .2406 (Coaches).

So long as both teams win out, based upon the teams' records of their games remaining, FSU's gain on NIU should be minimal at best. When it comes to the humans, only less than 1/2 of the pollsters need to improve NIU's ranking by ONE as compared with Fresno's.

That, my friends, could come down to the "eye tests" the pollsters have of these teams during the televised games of the upcoming weeks, culminating with their league championship games. (Naturally, neither team can lose a single game to remain in this year's BCS chase.)
