RE: Mackin Needs To Go
It's not Mackins job to micro manage the hc of a sport but it is his job to point out when things are this bad that the hc better do something to show improvement but his clock is ticking. All of us are expected to perform the job we are getting paid for.

And don't forget to mention that they play at Legion Field. That one always works.

Three years should be plenty to demonstrate you can get the job done. McGee should have us in a bowl by next season or be gone.

Serious question, why three years? What did UAB have in place that would make you believe 3 years is enough time to turn that program around?

RE: Mackin Needs To Go
Fund raising leads to facility improvements which leads to better recruiting and better team records. This process is not an "overnight" process so the AD has to consider where UAB is now on that road. So far, I have not heard of the first step being completed, but some seem to want to jump to the end of the process without waiting for the first three to happen.

If UAB was the only team striving to improve by this same process, we might get better more quickly, but we are not alone in this quest. Are we perhaps in the same position relative to our competition in this process as we are in our records?

The problem is McGee's teams are not getting better, they are, arguably, getting worse. It first became apparent a the end of last year when the team seemed to just give up.
Last year Memphis started as bad, probably worse, than UAB, losing to an average FCS team, but they finished with three wins, including a pummeling of UAB.
The problem is McGee; a great assistant with a fantastic reputation, that seems not to be up to the job.

Three years is all we can afford to lose on a him. That would be TEN straight losing seasons. UAB needs to quit treating their coaches like they have tenure. Show you can coach football or hit the road.

UAB has the same things in place that the Losing-est Coach in History had available. Actually, the campus that McGee recruits to is vastly superior to the one Watson showed to prospects: new weight room, new academic center, new rec center, new cafeteria, new dorms and classrooms. Somehow Brown was able to eek out a few winning seasons, big wins, and draft picks. I have a freshman at UAB so I know exactly how much the campus has changed. It was a DUMP in 2000 compared to how it is now.
