One thing I recall from yesterday was being asked, how come we don't run the spread? I couldn't answer this question..

You need the right personnel to run the spread and I don't think EMU has it. Jeff Quinn tried to make UB a spread team in 2010 and as a result we had *1* rushing TD all season and managed to finish 2-10 (with a loss to 0-11 Akron).

Your QB can't pass the ball long with any touch and he is not a great runner (tough runner but not going to really tear it up). Your line is also not built to spread out a defense.

English has had the time to build EMU into a spread but from the outside it looks like he is trying to recruit a sliver bullet skill player every year rather than focus on the line.

Sorry Bull, the EMU folks in here have a better feel for our personnel. EMU does have talent that could be fit into a different offensive scheme. Also, English is not trying to run the spread and I'm not sure where your opinion came from about his strategy. He runs an offense that is basically from the 90's that depends on having more talent than the opponents. Obviously it's a system that does not work when EMU has a similar talent level as the opponent. Nothing clever or innovative about him. He's a position coach.

I was answering someone who said "Why is EMU not running the spread"... My answer was "Because you don't have players who would best run the spread over something else".

EMU does not run the spread because English does not subscribe to that philosophy. Ironically, the English has been smoked many times by the spread in his coaching career.

RE: EMU VS Buffalo Game Day Comments
Nick,

All I was saying was that players are not as interchangeable as people tend to think. If a coach likes x system then he recruits for the system and should play the system. English does not like the spread so he recruits for what looked to me to be a mutiple pro-set type offense. You and I are saying the same(ish) thing.

If tomorrow RE decided to run a spread it would not be advisable until he either recruited the players he wants or redeveloped the ones he has.

English had the personnel for the spread when he got here, but instead chose to force his system on players that weren't a fit for it. Of course, I am not sure what players would want to fit in the system we are actually seeing on the field.

Too bad Roback wasn't around when Genyk was around, it would be have gun will travel.

Yes this team is regressing each week, time for English to go and an interim appointed.

Why would a 4 star player stay around when he has an opportunity to leave without penalty?

His sister goes to EMU, doesn't she?

Roback would still lose a year of eligibility.

Well, he still has a redshirt year to use.

That being said, if we hire an offensive guy with a vision that can be communicated to Roback, I don't see why he would leave...Unless he is fundamentally unhappy in Ypsilanti.

We know our team is not playing well, and we also know that it has a lot to do with the play calling. Could any individual player perform better? Yes, but your quarterback is no super star. He had a good game against us, but let's see what he does the rest of the year.

Licata: In 9 career starts, 6 W 3 L, 146/253 for 1799 yards, 14 TD's 6 INT's

Benz: In 14 career starts, 3 W 11 L, 201/341 for 2457 yards, 19 TD's 13 INT's

You have no insider information. If you do, provide some backup, and I'll provide backup to show just the opposite.

nope. and believe what you like.07-coffee3 In other words, you have no information and it was just another illogical, silly, baseless statement. SHOCKING!!!
And where did I even imply I had inside information on Robach? I didn't and don't I was stating a logical observation.07-coffee3
Where did you even imply you had inside information? Oh, I don't know, I think where you said that "Robach" would leave if English was fired. To which Eagle Sam said: "Doubtful unless YOU HAVE INSIDE INFORMATION." Then you replied: "I always do." Do you not even know what you post on here???01-wingedeagle

My mistake that was ment for another post. I have no inside information on Mr Robach. I was speaking about another subject that was on a different post. I apologize for my error and I am sorry for this mistake. It should have read I can see him or think he be leaving and not imply I know he is leaving.

RE: EMU VS Buffalo Game Day Comments
To clearify things I do have inside information how can I not have? I go to almost every single home game for most sports here at EMU. People tell me things but 99.999% of the things told to me aren't repeated they are personal to me and me alone. The only time I have said anything is when ther was a law being broken or someone was being hurt or there was a threat of some sort. And when I stated I had inside information that is what I was writing about not about Mr Robach. I never ever disclose any personal information for any reason. again I am sorry that it was taken that way it was not my intent.
