Virginia Tech always has the worst unis. Those stone helmets and the gobbler helmet look terrible.

I agree. People living outside the Atlantic coast are not aware how much Maryland residents love that state's unique flag. Next to the Lone Star Flag, Maryland has the greatest of all state flags.

Using that dark gray as an outline would make the jersey numbers pop, that might work well.

For a number of years they used a black outline for the numbers on their road jerseys. A friend of the family does spotter work for the South Carolina radio team and said it made his job a ton easier.

I don't agree with VT being represented 3 times as much as either Oregon or Maryland. Really I only think VT has had 2 bad uniforms and one of them didn't make the list.

Fresh Prince,

After Texas, I've always felt that SC was next on the 'passionate about the state flag' list. Folks in MD like the quirkiness of their flag, much like Ohio, but I never got the impression they loved it as an existential symbol like they do in the Palmetto State.

Kaplony,

I remember the black outline road unis well and they were terrible. It was not being a UT color was the largest offense. How does your friend feel about the slow death of TV numbers on college uniforms?

The folks here really do love the flag.

I've grown to like it too living here for many years.

Me too. I would have preferred to see them in creamsicle orange...
Honestly, I like the grey (or 'smokey as it is listed in the style guide) as a trim color. UT Orange is really light, especially against a white uniform. The other thing I wish the Vols would do is incorporate the checkerboard on a side panel for the pants.
That's not a bad idea, considering the history of the checkerboard in the end zone...

What? UT replaced the ceggerboard endzone with checkerboards? Is big orange in an up roar?
