Yconpirt has premised that the UALR job is the worst in the world.
I totally disagree with that. With our facilities and graduation rates, and Little Rock being a nice place to live, there's no reason why this couldn't be a really nice gig. If you want to start with worse jobs, we don't have far to go. Just go down to Pine Bluff and take that job. Play every game on the road to make money. Not a good scenario. And I'm sure there are plenty others just as bad.
We're normally in the top segment of our conference. We have a pretty good base to build on. All it takes is the right person to do it. I do think this is the year that tells the tale. If we can improve this year, and then keep it up the next few years to show we've established ourselves as a prominent player in the league then we're on the right track. But if we fail to achieve the post season this year and next, it's time for changes. Can't tread water forever. But let's just see what transpires this season. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.

It is the worst Athletic Director job in the country. We get less State money than schools in any other State. We have a populace that could care less about UALR athletics. Chris has done a great job in getting business support. Getting fan support is a thankless task that has never been accomplished. Yncopirt and I have joked about this for years, although it isn't really funny. We may not be the worst, now that our facilities have joined the modern world, but we are still close. Chris realizes he has done all he can do. If we don't hear something today, I will assume that Chris has gotten the job, but has told them to delay the announcement until after next week's SpectacUALR.

That's interesting about delaying the announcement. It's a good thought. Although I'm not sure it makes any difference.
Everyone knows he's in the running for the job, so there could be a congratulatory send off at the banquet should he get the position.

No he hasn't. He had stubbornly refused to make a coaching change with the men's team. That is the big reason this program has become stagnant. When you've got a coach that has barely hovered above the .500 mark for a ten year career, and attendance and season ticket sales have been falling over the past ten years, and he does nothing to change things, I have to assume that he is satisfied with his work here. Not good enough for me. I've been, we've been more than patient. My patience has run out.
