Who cares? They do a fine job of screwing with opposing players in between playing.

We were talking about band performances not heckling players, you are clueless, you trying to derail another thread? Everyone is tired of your act...

That's what the band is there for. Heckling and banging drums while opposing players and coaches try to talk to each other. That's why athletics pays the band stipend.

I work with a guy that marched for the SOTS down at Troy back in the mid 90s and he HATES, and I do mean HATES The Marching Southerners of JSU. From what he has told me the Troy/JSU rivalry was pretty intense back in those days.04-chairshot

It WAS.

At the same time it fizzled out even when we did play. We had beaten them something like 8 straight years before we moved to D1.

Both schools have really good bands. Right not I would give a slight edge to JSU visually.

I was in Troy's band when that was going on and frankly I didnt care after the first couple of times we played them. It was the same thing over and over.

I have said for 3 years that we have a BCS band that plays when our Div III goes to the locker room. Chester Phillips has done an astounding job.

Yes he has... Y'all may have a top 3 band in our conference.
Our band is the only reason why any Georgia State fan has kept their sanity. I'm excited to hear the Sound of the South in two weeks. I hope they are still making the trip to Atlanta. Game day atmosphere is so much better when the opposing team's band makes the trip... especially if they are top-notch like Troy's.

Sadly, the Sound of the South will not be making the trip to Georgia State after all. I think when they learned it was GaSt's homecoming, they decided not to attend the game after all.

RE: Band thread
Troy is only sending a pep band to Ga State since it's Ga State homecoming and we would be unable to preform at halftime.

Pep band is still very loud and is a nice little sample of the full SOTS

That's a bummer. I was looking forward to hearing their show. I think Sun Belt teams need to do a better job of having their bands travel to other schools. SEC schools do it, but.... it's the SEC and they have money like that.

RE: Band thread
it's kind of stupid that some conference games are falling on schools homecoming days.

hopefully this is transient.

That was common for UTA back in the day. Is homecoming usually a non-conference game?

We always have homecoming against conf foes. Crowds come out early in the season for non conf but need to be dragged back out late in the season.
