If the weather prediction for Saturday holds expect that average to drop ... significantly.

Don't worry about haters. I believe Memphis' numbers. The pictures don't lie. Looking forward to the game on Saturday.

Just wait until ECU is in the conference. Attendance will be thoroughly inspected and discussed at length at least weekly. Have you guys heard our stadium now seats 50,000 and we occasionally have that many fans there? Also, everyone knows that everybody but ECU lies about their attendance numbers.

LOL is there a fan base that spends more time arguing about opponents attendance? Doubt it.

Actually most posts in that thread are supportive of Memphis. Outside of Knight Light...big surprise there.

RE: Yes UCF our attendance numbers are real
The real joke about that Memphis flyer article is that they asked the city of Memphis how many fans were in attendance. The city of Memphis would have no clue. The turnstiles at the Liberty Bowl are not used, nor was there anyone counting people entering the premises.

The article mentions 64K for the entire season. We had more than that in the first two home games alone.

Also, the Southern Heritage Classic with only 24K? Really? I wasn't there, so I cant tell if that number is off or not. But going off of history, it sounds like a number the city pulled out of their ass.

I was at most of the home games last year, including the opener. The 40K announced number for the opener was likely low. Midway through the 1st quarter, the home side was packed, and the visitor side was very dense except at the very top. The end zone side where I sat was full, and had at least a few hundred UT Martin fans. The opposite end zone wasn't as full, but it certainly wasn't barren either.

It's funny how the flyer used an empty stadium pic in their article, and not one from the home opener.

Wow a whole topic about a thread on a different message board. I assure you we aren't as important as you are trying to make us feel.

Huh?

Who doesn't support Memphis?

All I did was dare bring up the only article that ever asked the operator of the Stadium (City of Memphis) actual game day attendance at events (including some non-Memphis football games) but I guess posting factual information is somehow "not supportive" of a program.

Misguided hatred of publicly supported higher learning institutions by fans of opposing athletic programs is way overrated.

Congrats on the attendance numbers so far this year, Memphis. It is too bad the city officials apparently use the weight of a bucket of tickets stubs to guesstimate your "actual" attendance numbers.

The turnstile is pretty proven technology at this point. Any idea why they don't use them?

As for this weekend's game, someone posting on the UCF Rivals board said Memphis is really promoting this game to try to draw a big crowd for your first American Athletic Conference game. Any idea how many you guys are expecting?

Thanks Mike. We're working on getting our football program where we think it should be and a good many fans are responding. There are no turnstiles at the stadium and they haven't adopted ticket scanning like we're able to do at the Forum for basketball. So, the Park Commission numbers are suspect either high or low at times, but it's doubtful that they are off by the numbers that the UCF poster claimed in that thread. It's unfortunate that we're even discussion the topic.

Regardless, there are still many more people in the stands than there have been in recent years.

Looking forward to the game Saturday. The Knights will be a good gauge for how much progress we've made.

Good travels to any Knight fans making the trip. I'm not sure why this game is in Memphis 2 years in a row.

I'm sure the AAC didn't really take into account last year's CUSA schedule. Not a big deal. I'm actually kinda glad. The last 3 times Memphis played at UCF I ended up having to fly to South Korea for work. Those are the only home games I've missed in the last 18 years. Those trips are a pain in the azz, so it'll be ok by me if we play in Memphis EVERY year. 04-cheers

Gahhh, you haven't kept up?!?!?!?!? lol

We have permission from the state legislature to start our next project. Most estimates are around five years from now. It will include a new press box/suites/club level (or some kind of combo) with an upper deck, on the south side (opposite of the one you see on TV). It should increase capacity to around 60k.

But in my eyes, this is still a VERY fluid project.
