...well I don't think CBS is a major sports broadcast network.

Don't tell former NCAA national champion UTEP that.

Just more carpetbaggin' influence from the all perfect and all knowing New York and eastern seaboard media with that; you know, the very ones that all of us Red Staters' will have to pull out of their eco-Demoncratic depressed & influenced misery any day now?

C-USA not listed but A-10, Missouri Valley, Mtn. West and West Coast Conference (Gonzaga, BYU, Pepperdine, etc.) all are?

Wrong.

Does anyone think we're better than any of the conferences listed? We may not be too far from the MWC or WCC, but we certainly aren't better than them. The line was drawn and it would seem us and the MAC just missed the cut.

The MWC was a top 3 conference last year.

Forgive those of us who have been around in CUSA for a while, but there was a time when CUSA was a Top 5 league in basketball. And yes, I recognize we've lost alot of the folks that contributed to that (Louisville, Cincy, etc), however, folks would be wise not to take CUSA lightly. There are some programs with some significant history in this league: UAB, WKU, UTEP, ODU, Charlotte, etc.

Unfortunately, until CUSA wins more non conference games against the schools in conferences who are named....they're right.

RE: CUSA not considered a major college basketball conference according to CBSSports.
Since CUSA-1 this conference has struggled with its basketball national perception. Until this configuration, the conference also struggled with being able to fix that perception by results on the court.

There's a real opportunity for the combination of ODU/Charlotte/WKU/UAB/UTEP to do something about that perception. Any or all of those programs can have outstanding OOC seasons at anytime. That doesn't even include the potential that Marshall has if they can ever figure out how to use the talent that they have.

The future fan base for CUSA should be pretty optimistic about the possibilities of the BB future of the conference.

I agree with oldtiger. I think this conference has the opportunity to become a respected basketball conference. We need to start off good though.

La Tech, MTSU, and Southern Miss also have some potential as well. There are some solid programs in CUSA. Collectively, we need to make the most of our opportunities. I think CUSA will be solid in basketball.

I certainly understand all that, I was merely pointing out there wasn't a conference on that list that we should be ahead of. I think we have a very solid basketball conference, the Sun Belt is a complete joke in MBB, hopefully the momentum we've built over the last two seasons will carry into this year and we can be a player in a more challenging conference.

Sorry about that; of course they do. USM has made big noise in and out of the conference very recently and may have the most high-energy coach that's been in the conference in a few years. Middle was a tourney team last year and frankly I should probably know more about the current LT situation than I do.
