Not in my lifetime, I don't think....

The Pirates had not had a winning record in 20+ years.....A winning record, not winning it all....

I was at Forbes Field when Mazeroski hit his famous HR. I've seen some pretty good play from the Bucs over the years...

Looks like the Pirates are trying to do their part to get to the NLCS for a rematch with the Braves. (6-3 Bucs beat cards to take a 2-1 lead in series.)
Can the Braves follow suit tonight in LA?
2-0 in the 2nd, but Dodgers have bases loaded.

edit: now 2-1 on sac fly by Ryu. This won't come easy for Braves.

edit #2: now 2-4 Dodgers lead on Carl Crawford HR.
Poo.

Now bases loaded Braves top of 3rd no one out. Need to get some runs here, chase Ryu and get to that Dodger bullpen.

Edit: Braves tie it at 4 runs apiece on 2 fielding farts by Ryu.

Edit #2: Hanley Ramirez going for the Dodger record for extra base hits in a series. 5-4 Dodgers.

This is an entertaining game to watch if you like lots of action in your baseball.

Maybe in the late 80's/early 90's but this totally feels weird that the Steelers have fallen over a cliff and the Pirates are kicking playoff ass.

Just got home, what an incredible day... unfortunate that I gotta head to work now.

Just north, but it was not just the last time the Pirates were good, but also the last time the Steelers were bad.

It did happen to coincide...sort of. 1992 was the last winning season, but the Steelers were also good that year. In 1991, the Pirates were good (.605 winning %) and the Steelers were 7-9. Before that you would have to go back to 1971 (before I was born) when the Pirates won the World Series and the Steelers were 6-8.

If you wanted to get technical, the Steelers haven't really sucked until way back in 1969 when they were 1-13.....I mean 7-9 is a great season if you root for Cleveland or Detroit....

Unless the Braves start playing better against the Dodgers, you might have to wait another 21 years...

Hanley Ramirez with a triple for Dodgers- yet another extra base hit for the man who is man on fire.

And a HR by Uribe makes it 10-4 Dodgers bottom of 4th. Not looking good right now for Braves.

And Freddy Garcia goes next. That won't be pretty

Well, he actually pitched well for Braves after he got here. Plus he's has some playoff success. Can't be much worse than Teheran was tonight. Heck of a way to get your first playoff experience. Hopefully he'll take it and learn from it for the future.
