RE: JMU Albany Game discussion
Offense: They avg about 390 yds total offense offense & 20 pts per game:

-40 rushing attempts for 171 ypg. Their TB #23 Omar Osbourne (6'1"/195, Jr) is avg 24 rushes, 120 yds per game.

-32 passing attempts for 219 ypg. QB #14 Will Fiacchi (6'3"/200, Jr) is 84 of 152 (55.3%), 4 TDs, 4 INTs.

Since some of those rushing attempts are sacks and scrambles, they sound like they have pretty balanced play calling. Maybe a little more run oriented till they get behind.

Defense: They give up an avg of about 440 yds (256 passing/184 rushing) and 35 pts per game.
http://www.nmnathletics.com/fls/8500/Sta...albany.htm

Lines aren't very big. Game notes from game vs ODU OL listed avg about 6'3 1/2"/281. DL avg about 6'2"/254. Smallish LBs (200, 215, 220).

Surprisingly after losing according to their game notes 11 of 22 starters from last season, 7 of 9 that made All NEC, I count 17 of 22 starters as Jr or Sr upperclassmen. Conversely, 2nd team I count 16 of 22 as Fr or Soph underclassmen. Sounds like they have little depth.

Skimming their game notes I didn't see it mentioned what styles of offense and defenses they run. Game notes 2 deep seems to indicate a 4-3 on defense.

I'd say that's a brutal 7 game stretch...they've already lost to URI, so I'm thinking they're going O-fer the CAA this year.

URI looking a little tougher than usual though. As we (95, BDK) joked this weekend, maybe it's not as horrible as it first sounded that we miss Maine and URI this year.

Yeah, but they lost in OT...I bet that's as close as UA comes to a conference win this year. They missed their chance. Stony Brook might be a W for them, but it's too hard to give a **** about that one.

Stony Brook rolled with Towson until the fourth.

I'm still holding out hope that Del is pretty strong and that UNH is in a down year (1-2). If we can trade a loss at Del for a win later in the season at UNH, we should be fine.

By all accounts we should be able to handle Albany like we did CCSU and Charlotte. As long as the Dukes aren't looking ahead to Richmond, I'm hoping we can throw in the backups sometime in the fourth.

Albany coach said on the conference call that JMU plays to the level of its competition and plays without passion.

Hard to argue on either count.

Those New Yorkers don't beat around the bush. I wonder if Yeager will be there to see the new CAA addition the Game after we announce a move to CUSA05-stirthepot

Agreed, but rather surprised Ford would say that publically before playing us. But I'm a big believer in what peers think. The trained eye picks up on subtle things. In that respect I find the comment particularly interesting and disturbingly timely.

Wow if that's true. Can somebody post the audio on that? I'd like to hear exactly how & in the context it was said.

Why would a 40+ yr HC say something to the light a fire under the arse of a team that clearly has more talent than his? Doesn't make any sense. You would think he'd say the opposite to try to lull JMU into not showing up...

Agree, but if he did say that, I don't know that anyone could argue with him, particularly on the first point.

Here's the audio w/ Coach Bob Ford. It's under "related videos"...scroll down about 1/3 way down page.
http://www.caasports.com/mediaPortal/pla...M_ID=8500. It starts at the 5:00 minute mark and lasts a couple of minutes.

Judge for yourselves. Doesn't sound like it was bad at all. He did say he felt we played "up" for Akron and played "down" for St. Franks and CCSU. He also said that he felt even Mickey would agree w/ that assessment. As far as saying we did not play w/ passion, that comment seemed to be directed at teams in general ( and an issue for coaches in general to deal with) when playing an opponent deemed as inferior.

Albany only scored 10 points against NoDU. That about says it all. JMU should roll in this game.

Well at least you came on our board, gave your team some grief about your lack of D, and gave a good prediction for JMU.

Bit of a paradigm shift for me. An ODU fan posted something here and I didn't immediately get pissed....

I can't get it too play. Silverlight keeps crashing. MM deserves criticism, but that doesn't surprise me that Duke Dawg would quote someone out of context in order to take a shot at MM- that's his schtick.
