Great match today against GaSt. Down 2 sets to none, the UALR ladies came back to when in 5 sets. I've been to matches that lasted less than 50 minutes. This one lasted almost 2 1/2 hours. Definitely got my money's worse. I was impressed with the size of the crowd and their enthusiasm. Ladies should challenge for the NCAA berth. No seniors on the roster, although a couple of girls will have enough credits to graduate this year.

Volleyball questions:

How good is your team normally?

I saw roughly 250 were in attendance, is that common?

This past weekend was your home opener and it came during conference play. UTA has already played 6 matches at home. Is that normal to not have any OOC matches at home.

Good luck the rest of the way. My preconference pick was you guys at second.

It has been common to have all of it's non conference games in road tournaments. They are looking at hosting a non conference tournament next year.

It seemed like a good crowd to me considering the time. There should be a couple of hundred more for ASU on Wednesday. Like RBL said, I can't recall UALR ever having a home game before conference season. I'm sure they have, but I don't remember one in recent years. I was questioning the 2nd place prediction, after the first 2 games yesterday, but we really came on strong after finally "waking up".

The wife and I were there for the match with GSU. After losing the first 2 sets, I thought, no way could the Trojans win 3 straight. But they did. The Trojans battle hard. Begic has such arm strength. When she spikes it, the ball does not come back over the net. Carolee Dillard the BB player contributes a lot as a blocker. Athletic ism aside, this a very attractive group of young ladies. The Program with the team picture is almost worth the price of admission.

PS: I notice the match was totally ignored by our wonderful daily newspaper. At least it was in the one we got.

You guys had some quality non-conference wins. I see second place being earned. Early on, it looks like the real competition in the conference is WKU, UALR, TXST and UTA. The verdict is still out on stAte.

Yes it was not in the paper. It was particularly noticeable since ASU's match was included. The match was over by 2:30, so that was obviously not the issue in getting it in the paper. I was amazed by the crowd, simply because the only way to know about the game is by going to the UALR website. Have never seen any advertising for volleyball or a prematch mention in the newspaper.
