College Football Fan Misery Index
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nca...x/2891411/

Quote:(Disclaimer: This isn't a ranking of worst teams, worst losses or coaches whose jobs are in the most jeopardy. This is simply a measurement of a fan base's knee-jerk reaction to what they last saw. The way in which a team won or lost, expectations vis-à-vis program trajectory and traditional inferiority complex of fan base all factor into this ranking.)

(Disclaimer 2: By virtue of firing head coach Lane Kiffin early Sunday morning, USC is hereby excluded from this and future editions of the Misery Index since fans can now look forward to a new regime taking hold in 2014.)

Wolken's list:

1. UConn
2. Oklahoma State
3. North Carolina
4. Purdue
5. Notre Dame
6. SMU
7. Tennessee
8. Southern Miss
9. Temple
10. Air Force

UConn should be off the list now that Paqualoni is gone. Our AD appears to have a clue and he'll move us forward.

I don't think SMU should be on the list (4 straight bowls doesn't suck), but it will also drop off when June leaves in December.

SMU is 1-3 with the only win coming against Montana State by 1 point. 10 turnovers and over 300 yards in penalties in 4 games makes for misery.

The assumption of the writer is probably that, for all the money they paid, SMU's boosters were expecting Jones to deliver a BCS bowl like he did at Hawai'i.

Is SMU buying Jones out?

He will be "retiring" and yes

My apologies for posting it twice but this video clip was better suited for this thread.

RE: College Football Fan Misery Index
How about Miami? They went 13-1 & finished ranked 10th the year before the rules were changed to require a MAC team to get a BCS appearnce for that type of record. They had 10 straight years of winning records at that point and were generally regarded as equal to their biggest rival (Cincinnati).

Since 2005, they've had 3 seasons with 2 or fewer wins and have only had one winning record. The coach who got them that record was hired away immediately, then fired when he turned out to be a complete creep of a human being. On top of that, their biggest rival got a golden ticket into the Big East and they've gone 0-8 against in their rivalry game. They haven't come closer than 14 points in any of them.

This year, they have only 698 yards of offense through four games. They're 0-4, and they haven't been close to winning any of them.

The article was posted prior to you firing Pizzaroni.
