After the onside kick, Perry had the chance to run on 3rd down but threw an incompletion. I don't know if he would have gotten the first down, but any yardage makes 4th down more manageable. Failing to score on that drive gauranted the blowout.

Yep. There were running lanes for the QBs all night, but they wouldn't pull it down. It's like they will get in trouble for running it or something...

One of those "wrong plays" had to be the WR slip screen to Staples with trips to his side of the field on 3rd and 8 or 9 yards. My first thought was how dumb of a play call that was, but then the camera lingered on AB as he got to the sideline and McGee was all over him. He delivered the pass (Staples got smothered) so all I could think was he must have audibled into the play. JP came on for his first series when we got the ball back.

That's what I was saying in another post. It looks like AB has paralysis because he's scared to make a wrong decision. JP not as much maybe because he's already been in McGees doghouse.

Bingo, blazr. It's easy to blame McGee for the "playcalling" but this year it's on the QBs. Last year McGee called the plays and gave the QBs no authority to audible. For whatever reason Austin struggled with the proper pre-snap reads.

The announcers mentioned many times early in the game that Vandy's defensive scheme was a nightmare to prep for opposing coaches. Mostly, they said, due to the fact that they disguise blitzes in a very unique way (making preparing to face Vandy's defense akin to prepping to face a triple-option team, I suppose). If that's true for coaches I'm sure it's even more true for opposing QBs.

If you run over them, it doesn't matter how they are positioned.
