That, and I figured I'd see everyone at the SpectacUALR tomorrow night.

Most folks that go are certainly not rich (I assume that some of the people who bid thousands of dollars on the live auction items may be). However, they do care enough about the UALR athletic program to support it by buying a ticket and showing up. Since we stopped having an end of the year banquet (big mistake), several years ago, its the nicest event of the year for UALR fans.

I went last year, and there were few fans there. There were a lot of donors that buy tickets and give money but few fans that give their time.

Both are needed but i wont waste my time.

I encourage all of you to go but my time is spent better elsewhere at this point.

Got to have some change before i invest my time.

The SpectacUALR is a joke when it comes to actual FAN support. It was obviously a maneuver to make the Tip-in club irrelevant to the program financially.

The Tip-In Club used to have an auction that raised about 20K during Meet the Trojans. It was a very nice event that aided the athletic program. We were not thrilled when Chris told us not to do it anymore, because the Athletic Department was going to do their own auction. The SpectacUALR now raises about 10 times what we did. I have no complaints about this move. We need these types of events if we are to have a successful athletic program. At this point, I'm really not sure what "actual fan support" means. Certainly folks that only show up when you are winning are not real fans. I agree that many of the folks that show up for the SpectacUALR and spend big bucks are not necessarilly "real" fans either. But they do apparently care about the University and the greater Little Rock community, and we need those as much, and probably more, then the fans that buy 7 dollar seats at the door. I identify more with the latter, but money is what drives college athletics in today's world.

Understood. They are not out to get the tip in club. He was able to put something together that was better. That was a good move. BUT, not letting the tip in club have a meeting place over there, well hell, might as well be a slap!

No doubt that was a bad decision. The Tip-In Club could have really taken off if we had a place to meet at Stephens. Those are your core fans that you really need. Amazingly, our numbers grew last year. It's tough to get some folks back who remember the meeting place we had at Alltel. I guess some new folks don't know any better.

I am voting with my dollars. You can keep going but this is the only thing you can do to get change.

We need money and fans. The program can't survive with money. Give Chris credit. He's done a good job raising money.
Now he just needs to figure out how to get more butts in the seats.

I agree with that 100%.
