RE: What happens if UL is undefeated and...
More than enough teams in this league are beyond horrible. Couple that with an underwhelming OOC schedule, and UL has ALMOST NO CHANCE at an NC.

That might be an ancillary reason, but I think we both know that the main reason those teams left is because of money.

It really doesn't matter. At least 1 team going undefeated and not getting a shot probably happens more years than not. Nobody on the national scene would even bat an eye doing it again.

RE: What happens if UL is undefeated and...
Thinking about this in the bigger, out-year picture... if a MWC/AAC team will never be considered for the NC, what's the point of being in the same division?? I want to hang with the P5 as much as anyone, but if we're going to be put in this box, they get the separation without having to go through the trouble of separating. In talking D4, they keep holding up the SBC, etc. as leagues that don't 'belong' next to the P5. Aresco keeps saying we can and will compete at the highest level. I realize we're not playing at an SEC, etc. level... I get that. But if an undefeated AAC/MWC team will never even be considered for the NC... what's the point? Seems expanding the playoff to 8 might fix this issue...

I still thing NCAA Division 1 football needs a true champion and the only to achieve this is through a 16-team playoff. 07-coffee3

I think eight would be enough.

Well, I think all this should be included:

1) SEC Champion
2) PAC 12 Champion
3) Big Champion
4) Big 12 Champion
5) ACC Champion
6) AAC Champion
7) MWC Champion
8) MAC Champion
9) Sun Belt Champion
10) CUSA Champion
11) -16) the 6 highest rank unselected teams.

It's a true playoff, I grant you that. If you do this though, you are equating all 10 conferences. 16 seems like a lot, but it's not compared to what BB does... which is why smaller conferences in BB get an autobid. 1/64 is no big deal. You really think the SEC, etc. would let the SBC and cUSA get an 'AQ' spot in a 16 team playoff over some 1-2 loss P5 schools?

To ease the fears of the P5 conferences, the AQ bids are only guaranteed if the champion has 2 losses or less. Any team that sneaks in with 3 losses or more has not earned it aIIMO.

The problem is if you go to a "true" playoff with a "true" champion, there are no longer 10 conferences. There are now 23 conferences since you are essentially taking over the FCS. Unless you relegate the 13 FCS conferences to Divison 2.

Otherwise, the FBS playoffs, while a much MUCH better system of determining a champion, isn't the true NCAA champion of football.

The odds are stacked against in the BCS formula. 07-coffee3

Louisville played itself with a weak ooc schedule. It should have tried to schedule Baylor when SMU dropped it from its schedule….

I don't see UL getting by UCF tonight. Keep in mind, this UCF team beat Penn State AT Penn State.

That's not your Daddy's Penn State, matter of fact, that's not your older brother's Penn State either. Truthfully, I watched the game, Penn State looked disinterested.

I'll be shocked if UL doesn't beat UCF handily, i predict 33 - 14.

I'll be disappointed, too. 07-coffee3

I'm sure you will be disappointed. 03-lmfao

That Penn State team beat an undefeated Michigan team on that same field.
