Good start to the challenge considering Akron swept us in volleyball last year. Lets hope our guys can clinch the Wagon Wheel Challenge a little earlier this year!

RE: 2013-2014 PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge
Women's T&F should go to KSU both winter and spring. Men's is closer, but Akron has the edge there. Still, add two golf, two spring ball teams, and two women's T&F, and it's over. That's adds up to 8 total points for the good guys. If we steal half a point in men's hoops, all the better, plus a chance at a point in men's T&F. CC was disappointing, though. I thought we'd get a point there.

RE: 2013-2014 PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge
Just bring this back to the forefront with the MAC Track/Field Mens/Womens Championships @ Kent this weekend, so 2 points are up for grabs with that and the Akron Womens Basketball Team travels to Kent next Sunday, so Akron could get a full point there. KSU Mens Basketball travels to Akron on March 7th or 8th.

PNC Wagonwheel Challenge as of 02/23/14 is KSU 2.5pts & Akron 3.5pts.

Reminder of detailed scoring system:

Scoring System
• Each of the fifteen (15) sports will be worth one (1) point. For a school to be the winner of The PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge, it must accumulate at least eight (8) points.
• The point is awarded to the team that wins the season series in the head-to-head competition.
• If the teams play head-to-head once in a given season (e.g. football), then the school that wins will receive the point.
• All regular season games count toward the season series tally (including if non-conference games are played) with the school that wins more games (e.g., winning two of three in softball) receiving the point. If teams split the regular season matchups (e.g., in basketball), then each team receives a one-half (½) point for that sport.
• For men's and women's cross country, golf and indoor/outdoor track and field, one point is awarded to whichever school finishes higher in the MAC Championship for each of those sports. (For these sports, no other competitions – in-season or post-season – will count toward the series.)
• MAC and/or NCAA Tournament games can count toward determining the season series winner (e.g., the schools split the two regular season meetings in basketball and then plays in the MAC Tournament, whichever school wins that game is awarded the point.)
• In the event of a 15-sports season tie, the school that won the trophy the previous year will retain possession. (If there is a tie in the first year, then no school will be awarded the trophy.)

RE: 2013-2014 PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge
T&F had a great day yesterday as the women dominated and ran away with the title. The men surged as well and finished 2nd in a much closer score than expected. Akron's finishes mirrored us and won the men's title and finished a distant 2nd to the KSU women.

And so a split in indoor T&F.

Game 2, KSU 3 Akron 1, final @ Akron. KSU Softball scores a full pt for KSU in the Wagon Wheel Challenge. Nicely done ladies, especially doing it @ Akron.

Currently, 5.5-4.5 with the Zits leading. Assuming golf, golf, and baseball, we now have 7.5 points. Can we get a split in T&F ? Don't know anything about those teams.

RE: 2013-2014 PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge
We have being getting a split for at least the last two years. Women beat Akron and the men lose. Nothing is a certainty but it happened during the indoor season that just ended so the odds are in our favor.

Yep, they just split @ the MAC Indoors, so unless something crazy happens or injuries, the same should happen @ the MAC Outdoors.

If we were to tie 7.5 all, KSU would retain the trophy.

Does anyone else suspect a CrAkron grad is in charge of updating the website?
