if $320 per player......
is the cost per FBS athlete to have their likeness used in ncaa football........

im totally fine with it.

im as hard core "players shouldnt be paid" as you can get, however video games do so much to advance the sports brand & are very entertaining for the fans.

i say do it and deduct that from the 2k stipend thats being proposed. add jersey sales to come up with the other $1680 & title X requirements and im happy

its a win for the fans
a win for the players
a stipend model thats sustainable for all the d1 schools

On an ongoing basis it would cost more. But heck even if it cost EA $5M or $10M per year to be distributed to the athletes in the game its probably worth it. Give them this and give them the $4000 stipend a year I've seen in plenty of places. Plus they're getting tuition, room, board and books already. Not too shabby.

Is that before or after lawyer fees? I heard much smaller numbers bandied about, like in the $50-$100 range after the fees.

320 is the absolute max im willing to go.....

now this figure is just from EA. its a settlement, im thinking if you take out the legal process for next time and make this a one time payment for all first year players EA can easily afford that. they are still owed $$$$ from the NCAA for selling their likeness as well memorabilia sales

the 320 benchmark is easily obtainable

It's too bad we won't have EAS College football from here going forward. To bad we couldn't have a system where we could have it again in the future.

Just like when Twinkees went away "forever", I am sure EA, the NCAA, and the players will figure out something going forward and EA College Football will be back again eventually.

RE: if $320 per player......
Let's face it: The marginal value of most college football players from a revenue generating perspective is zero dollars. They are just uniforms out there running around to 99% of the fans, you can bench one and bring in another and it has no impact on school or NCAA money.

There are a few big names like the Teos and Clowneys and Manziels that actually are worth money, but the great bulk of those "likenesses" are worthless, so the average player should be very happy with $320.

This is a typical class action settlement.

I bet the plaintiff lawyers are happy.

Yes, each player gets $320, law firm pockets $10 million.

Then you are opposed to it. The $320 benchmark is for back payments to 125,000 players. Based on current royalty payments it would be about $1,000 per year for 10,710 scholarship football players. And that was based off the royalties paid to non-properly represented players. If you take the revenue made and balance it by the percentage paid to pro players, that number would be even higher.
