Good programs can withstand horrible AD's like Sam Baker and bad coaches like Van Douchebag over the long haul. I believe App is a good program and will rebound from this. I just hope the rebound happens after this years game.

As for the current darlings of that insecure third of the Georgia Southern fanbase that thinks FBS is the answer to their need for ego gratification, aka our current yankee AD and Brooks Keel, the jury is still so far out on their performance. All they've done so far is show they can spend money and hire marketing firms.

And I'm no fan of Baker. I didn't like the BVG hire, believe he should've given Hatcher more time and at the end of the day should Baker should have been held to the same standards he applied to both Sewak and Hatcher.
Still, Baker deserves better than having some messageboard hero compare him to that yankee BVG.

Calm down bro, I did not say Baker = BVG. BVG was obviously slightly worse. However, if you think Baker was even remotely a good AD and did not hold GSU back, you have the problem. If he was remotely adequate why did he not have a huge backing? Where was the outrage by alumni and boosters when he was forced to step down? Did you even send an email in support of such a great AD? He was at best a high paid accountant riding things out until retirement. So your standard for a good athletic director, for football in particular, at an exploding school, in an exploding region in an exploding state with surplus of high school talent is staying "solvent" and remaining competitive? We saw no real attendance, donation and or booster increases under Baker. Yet the school nearly doubled in size under his tenure. Facility improvement and building was typically done piece meal around one donation and the masses kept out. He even admitted to doing things backwards. It should be quite obvious how inept Baker was now. That "yankee" AD has grown the program more in a few years than Baker did in a decade. He is building facilities that Baker did not even think was possible all in a down economy. If you have not noticed you are blind. Folks are actually excited again and kept in the loop. Also speaking of "yankee" what in the heck does it matter where someone if from? Our current coach is a "yankee" does that bother you bro? I dont know where you are getting your info but if it was only a third we would be still locked in to the SuckCon playing tiny private schools. I guess your fragile ego is satisfied in piling up points on schools smaller than my local elementary with facilities and stadiums worse than most 1-A high schools. I know never being able to destroy W.GA ever again is a huge loss but I think we will survive. Most pro FBS people including myself believe GSU has outgrown the SuckCon and the FCS it has nothing to do with our egos. Like that "yankee" AD and good ole boy southern Pres we have we believe the athletic program serves the university not the other way around. It is the best move for the university and the only way the football program is ever going to grow. For most folks that is pretty obvious after three decades of dominating the FCS with no real growth for over a decade. For every NDSU the FCS gets there is five Campbell Camels that have replaced the Ark States and MTSU's etc. The division has become a joke with five or so real teams and collection of limited privates, non scholly jokes and a place where DIV I basketball school parks a football team to cost them less money.

If you are so anti FBS why you even here bro? I guess all these other posters on here are all just insecure ego maniacs like me since most Sun Belt teams were FCS / 1-AA at one time right? Why you slumming for? Why don't you put up a poll and see how many of my fellow egomaniacs think they would be better off today in the magical world of the FCS.
