And some of those FCS schools are already better than Memphis in football 05-stirthepot

Arkansas State doesn't think so. CUSA best bet would be to add Arkansas State. Why not take best from the Sunbelt? With the Sunbelt adding App St and Georgia Southern, it's only a matter of time for the Sunbelt being a better conference than the CUSA so Arkansas State is a no brainer.

that's because you don't know anything about JMU.

We don't need more than 14 teams and especially another move up.
If a western team were to leave, needs to be replaced with a western FBS team. Please don't bother to tell me how great J Madison is.

You are thinking geographically and not taking academics, market, demographics into play.

JMU has tried to sell that they can bring the DC market...

Don't worry, JMU has a much better fan base and brings academics to the table... You're welcome.

I'd like JMU to join the conference for selfish reasons, it's 2hours from my house and 20 mins. from my parents. But I'm finding it hard to beleive that they'd have the votes in the senario that's being proposed (losing a western member). As has been mentioned that would send WKU or MT west which neither would be happy about. And I'd think all the western members would rather replace a lost team with another from the West and there's several good options out there imo. Oh well, we'll see.

It'll be better for C-USA (in regards to money) if a team is leaving when JMU comes in. Otherwise that's just splitting the pie in 15 (probably 16) slices rather than 14.

Realignment is about tv markets first and football 2nd. It isn't about academics first and foremost. Otherwise the Big 10 wouldnt' have added Nebraska.

This is a sports conference. It isn't an academic bowl. There is no need for 2 Virginia schools in CUSA. If anything is added East, it needs to be Georgia to link that side of the conference. And it makes much more sense to replace a western division team with another western division team. UAB already wants in the East. Now they are going to add another Eastern team? Makes no sense.

I will wait for the official announcements too. I dont' see anything credible at this time. Anyone on a message board can make junk up.

I'll defer to others who know you're program and most seem positive so thats a good thing. As a newbie to CUSA myself I'm not in a position to comment on why JMU would be good or bad.

Im just really tired of re-alignment and wanted 5 years or so of stablity so all the G5 could grow thier brand.

Please no more Eastern Teams. As it is now there is a 6 8 split. I hope we aren't losing UTEP or Rice.

It just depends on what CUSA's expansion plan is...is it JMU and Delaware long term? If so, you can see a natural market expansion in the East.

That's a FCS plan...but they certainly executed that with Charlotte and Old Dominion...so why not keep going.

Markets, academics and demographics still rule the day...

I don't want them because outside of having a decent football team, they bring nothing else (Athletically).

You are on the right path...but consider that Virginia is a big state with multiple major markets...ODU is Tidewater, if they decide JMU brings in the DC market...then that is bigger and more wealthy than the entire state of Arkansas.

Academics are way behind among those three . . . It's markets and demographics. Which is a dumb way to build a conference, because if you look at the pecking order of conferences, how much do markets and demographics actually come into play?

absolutely nothing athletically? are you serious?

a) our men's team was in the NCAA last year and will be better the next few years.
b) we are about to announce plans for an $88 million state of the art basketball arena
c) our women's hoops team is in the top 5 ALL TIME in wins and has won 24+ games for 8 straight years
d) Baseball team just built a new stadium and has made it to the CWS in Omaha
e) Field hockey and lacrosse are ALWAYS ranked
f) women's soccer has made 10 or so NCAA trips
g) men's soccer has made 10 or so NCAA trips including 2 Elite Eights and had the MLS Rookie of the year 2 years ago (CJ Sapong)

how exactly is that "nothing"?

We made the NCAA tourney in basketball last year and won a game in it. OUr women's basketball was an NIT finalist year before last. We have been to regionals and super regionals in baseball in recent years. Not that you all may care, but we have won many national titles in archery. We bring a lot to the table in most sports. More than Charlotte in recent years...

JMU is a great fit for the new Conf USA. They should fit in very nicely, plus it provides a close rival for ODU. The conference is shaping up really well to have many schools with similar interests in sports and finances.
