For those of you without access to ESPN3, it's worth going out and buying Apple TV. We'll likely be playing more games than not on espn3 going forward and it's worth the investment to get a quality picture through your TV.

RE: UC at USF Game time
I have Apple TV, but I haven't found a way to watch ESPN3 on it.

Great, 7 PM. I'll be at the best Oktoberfest in Ohio at that time, so I will have to rely on cell phone updates in an area where there will be 50,000 phones instead of the usual 2,000.

Guess I'll here about it after the game, or maybe there will be a score update of two during teh Ohio State game that will be playing on all the TVs in the park.

RE: UC at USF Game time
First off this is the old Big East TV deal. Next season, I expect to see games on ESPNU, CBSSN, and ESPNews instead of ESPN3. Just about every person today has an Xbox, smart phone, computer, or tablet that watch the game if they want to.

If you want to get an idea regarding next season's football coverage look at this season basketball coverage. I expect a mix of ESPN/ESPN2 weeknight games mixed in with lower tiered national broadcasts for Saturday games.

How does Apple TV help you get access??? I have AppleTV and as far as I know all it does is allow me to stream it from my laptop or iPad onto my big screen TV. I get access to ESPN3 because I'm a Time Warner internet subscriber.

Any the streaming picture quality is the same or worse than standard definition television, especially blown up on a 60" tv. So how are you getting a "quality picture"??

AppleTV has the WatchESPN app on it. I have RR turbo and the picture quality is pretty good probably from the higher bandwidth. HD quality on the close ups (using an HDMI cable). Far away shots are closer to SD though.

ESPN3 sucks. If you get it, the pic quality looks like you have bunny ears on your TV.

Has anyone tried Chromecast that has an Android tablet? I read that you can stream anything from your android tablet to your TV via chromecast. Plus, it is only $35.

All the games are also saved and you can watch the replays. There's also a ton of games on there every week to watch. Its a big upgrade from watching ESPN3 on the computer 3-4 years ago.

Not from Android device, but have used it from my PC. Send a very clear replication of my computer screen (and sound) to my 60' flat screen in real time. So videos/streaming work great. Well worth it if people want to watch ESPN3 on their televisions.

RE: UC at USF Game time
So Chromecast is basically a wireless way of syncing your laptop/computer's screen to a TV? If you have HDMI ports on your tv and computer, couldn't you just buy a $1 HDMI cable online and connect the two? I've done that multiple times in the past to watch games and other tv shows... Doesn't address the issues of ESPN3 if you don't have TWC though.

I tried it out. It only works if your cable company have the deal with ESPN3. Mine does not, so I can not open the games on the WatchESPN app.

Correct, but can also play iphone, ipad, android devices, which are more difficult to cable to your TV. Same effect as hooking HDMI between the two, but obviously wireless. It runs through your home wifi.

It does suck. And there's no sugaring coating it...2 straight road games and you don't have local tv coverage? Terrible way to try and build or sustain interest in the program with the general public. Only the true hardcore fans will take the time and effort to try and "watch"........no sports bar coverage, etc. IF this is truly still the Big East deal, "something" is different than in previous years. In the past, I believe most ESPN3 broadcasts were somehow picked up by either FoxOhio or made available to a local affiliate. I can't remember a previous year where multiple games were only available on espn 3.

ESPN3 is a good concept as a supplement to regular television (for those who happen to be on the road traveling and away from a TV). You get nothing out of it if it is the only way people can watch you play.

This will be the third straight game on ESPN3--- Northwestern State, Miami and now USF. When you consider that the Purdue game was on ESPNU and that less households have ESPNU that means UC has barely been on television at all this year.

Yes, the die-hards that post on this forum will do what is necessary and hook their computer or Iphone to their television, but to the Average Joe out there they just want to be able to turn on their television and click the remote to the game. If they have to do anything extra they will just watch whatever SEC or B10 game is on ABC, ESPN/ESPN2 or CBS.
