Theres also success stories like Boise State, TCU, Utah and to a lower degree USF. UTSA has no chance at being as big as UT or A&M but if the cards fall down in place they could end up like the four I mentioned.
I understand you now though. Youre upset because we know what ECU is, so even the the slightest possibility that a new program like UTSA could end up being more is frustrating. Guess Id be pissed if I was in your shoes too.
More what? You are in CUSA, and when you go 38-13 in CUSA and to bowls 6 of the next 7 years like we have in a tougher CUSA let me know. If being ECU is having that level of success over CUSA as well as putting 45-50k in the stands consistently, and having 35 million dollar budget I'll take it all day everyday. Our step to the next level is a hell of a lot shorter and less daunting than yours with the resources we have. We've already shown we can beat the ranked Boise, TCU's you mention and other various ranked BCS programs. Vs that next level we have more BCS wins than any mid major the last 2 decades because we have played 3-7 BCS schools a year unlike some of these schools around that pad the records with gimmies we always have one of the toughest OOC's in the nation The way we've rolled CUSA the last few years though, the proofs in the pudding about where our place is compared to CUSA ilk. , Biggest budget, best fanbase, wins more CUSA games than anyone left around.
$35 million budget isn't that impressive, UNT is $30 million.
His budget numbers are off, this the budget was raised by 6 million, to 41 million.

Try 19 million
ECU.........36 million......(40% student fees)
ODU.........35 million......(74% student fees)
Rice.........30 million.......N/A
Marshall....29 million......(50% student fees)
UAB.........28 million.......(67% student fees)
UTEP........27 million......(55% student fees)
MTSU.......27 million.......(72% student fees)
WKU.........26 million......(69% student fees)
FIU..........25 million.......(84% student fees)
FAU.........23 million........(60% student fees)
USTA.......22 million........(62% student fees)
USM........22 milion.........(38% student fees)
UNCC.......21 million........(89% student fees)
UNT.........19 million.........(50% student fees)

Not only is our budget the biggest it's one of the least reliant on student fee's.
Just so this doesn't get into another confusing discussion with folks that haven't been through it 100 times already, the numbers are taken from what the universities report in their federal filing each year. USAToday merely puts the income/expenses/student fees/university contribution into what they consider the most appropriate buckets.
One of the items that's caused a lot of confusion is that if a university, such as UNT, has a capital project for the new stadium or other athletic projects, those numbers are not included in the annual athletic budget numbers. Those are captured in the university's capital projects reporting.
....and "student fees" aren't just fees from students; for most universities it also includes university funds that are channeled into athletics that aren't part of the normal ticket/media rights/donation/etc revenue stream. Jonesing used the term "student fees" because NC doesn't allow normal university funds to be channeled into the athletic program so they have be fees collected directly from students. That's the best explanation that we've been able to come up with in a couple of years of rehashing those numbers.
ECU's facility upgrades and expansions are also, not included in our budget, done through separate capital projects. If they were right now our budget would be about 24 million dollars higher.

RE: Attendance - Week 4
Wow. Things went south quickly.
Reading through the nonsense I was reminded that we are expanding Dowdy-Ficklen to 60,000 in 2016. Home games against West Virginia, NC State and North Carolina and an away game at Virginia Tech that year. Holy cow.

That's good news and $30 million represents a good sized increase over the last few years.
On a side note, when Lane Rawlins was President at the University of Memphis, my daughter was awarded the first ever Alumni Association Scholarship and during her first 2 years she, mrsoldtiger, and I were his guests for dinner and a reception at the university owned President's house.
I had forgotten that he left Washington State for UNT.

Back to the original topic, updated the numbers since Rice-Houston was considered a neutral site game.
