2012 versus 2013
Here are the stats for the first 3 games in 2012 and for this year:

2012 Points Yards
Iowa 18 268
Tenn-Martin 7 346
Army 40 494
TOTAL 65 (21.6 ave) 1,108 (370 ave)

NIU 93 (31 ave) 1,143 (381 ave)
LYNCH 610 (pass) 304(RUSH) TOTAL 914 (304.2 ave)

2013 Points Yards
IOWA 27 458
Idaho 35 442
EIU 39 577
TOTAL 111 (37 ave) 1,477 (492 ave)

NIU 118 (39.3 ave) 1,548 (516 ave)
LYNCH 662 (pass) 404 (rush) TOTAL 1,068 (356 ave)

Defense needs to stand up, the numbers don't look good.
The offense (and Lynch) are beating last years numbers.
The 1st quarter against EIU was obviously a disaster. Stopping one of the 4 down conversions and/or getting the onside kick would have change the whole tone of the game. Once we got the ball, we moved it and scored.
We had 602 yards yesterday, essentially in the last three quarters.

Of course, the bottom line is that we are 3-0.

It is an odd year. Look at Michigan. They beat #15 Notre Dame handily, then almost lost (they should have) to Akron, wining by only 4 points, and beating Conn by 3 point, Conn having lost to FCS Towson.
