As of right now JSU would be better, but our rivalry with Georgia State has huge potential in the future if they can somehow improve.

Also consider that Georgia State competed in a few Sun Belt sports last year and finished middle of the pack in the Bubas Cup. Jacksonville State wouldn't have done that with all their sports.

As for football, their budget is small by FCS standards, their stadium is okay and their winning is suspect. Georgia State budget is quite a bit higher, plays in an NFL facility and their winning the last two years has been abysmal. It is what it is.
Much to my surprise, not much difference. I didnt realize GSUs basketball was this bad now.
Baseball and Softball are about a wash. 58-57% GSU in baseball over 5 years. Softball 66-57% GSU JSU does have a NCAA regional win no idea about GSU. I didnt know GSUs softball is as strong as it is. Both have several wins over SEC schools.

Basketball 46-38% GSU
W Basketball 34-21% GSU two terrible programs. We have a new coach but who knows if it will help.

Volleyball 30- 50% JSU

other sports hard to tell and didnt care to look up GSU accomplishments.
JSU is a national contender in the well publicized sport of rifle. Has several NCAA appearances in golf. I have no idea about track or tennis but we have teams.

The Sunbelt would be better off with J-State than G-State...
Bla bla bla there's no grass bla bla bla buildings too tall bla bla bla I think it's 1985 bla bla bla TRADITIONAL!

we dont need to add any regional level schools with no academic standing and small fanbase. the rest of the conference will eventually drag ga. state up to a competitive level. being a metro type school ga. state will probably have a hard time building the level of local excitement that say utsa has since there is a lot of competition in atlanta. it is what it is..

RE: Georgia State vs Jacksonville State Game Thread
GASt is exactly what we thought they would be this year..There was not a person with any knowledge of the football program that thought they could compete with FBS or remotely decent FCS teams this year and probably next year.. This program is like a 17 year old freshman football player..Tons of potential but he is going to get slapped around by stronger more experienced players ..GaSt needs time to grow up. They would have a tough time competing in a good division 2 conference right now..That being said, they have a good coach with a longterm plan and a track record of building a program that will eventually pull them up to the competition....
