Fluellen has been absolutely awesome today. Rocket defense...wow we actually have a defense this year!

Great day to be a Rocket! Lets finish this game off strong....Ball St. is going to be a very tough game. BSU is beatin' up on EMU. Rockets always struggle in Muncie.

Okay, game is over. Don't expect to see any starters in, especially TO (hopefully!).

Its the bend but don't break defense that has burned us in the past. We have given up 136 yards to a running back no one has ever heard off. Can't rely on freshmen quarterbacks every week to make mistakes. Lynch and Wenning from BSU won't throw int's right at our linebackers.

"Rockets in victory formation", says Mark Beier.

Always great to hear that.

38-17 final.

Ball State will be a HUGE game. BSU QB will not be locking onto receivers.

In spite of the turnovers, CMU's quarterback is pretty good and will get a lot better. We beat a decent team. The TO's just killed them.

His highest per carry average by far, which includes a game against an FCS New Hampshire. A quicker back wouldn't have been stopped at all.

The D seems designed to risk yards to try and increase the number of turnovers.

Yeah, it's funny because I was thinking about that EMU game last year today wondering how we always seem to let these unknown RBs look like supermen for a day. But our defense still seems to come up with huge stops when they need to in these games. I love this defense the most of any defense I've seen in the last 10 years.

Notes from game.
1] Special teams solid as usual.
2] Offensive line, T.E. and Full Back controlled Line of scrimmage entire 4th quarter. Something that they must develop if they are to win MAC.
3] Didn't run a QB once today.
4] Our defense is not going to limit teams to 200 or less yards per game and have shut outs. Much improved tackling today. Don't remember many yards after contact.
5]Enjoyed the power formation with 9 big dogs on the line of scrimmage. Wears the beef!!!!!

I mentioned it after the Missouri game but the thing that was most impressive to me in the first two games is that although the Rockets came away with two losses, they looked the part out there playing with them. Watching the Rockets play against CMU and EWU, the Rocket D looks big compared to their opponents (that aren't SEC teams). I really think this D is going to wear down offensive lines this year in the MAC.

Not to mention that Florida beat Tennessee by pretty much a similar score with their #2 QB today and Missouri is currently taking it to BG's Indiana 38-14 in Bloomington. If we can keep Owens playing at least as well as he did today and stay healthy, the Rockets should roll through the MAC with possible exceptions Ball State and maybe NIU.
