Well Stoss said he committed today to us.

In the 1st link I found ( Yahoo) it showed his interested schools as
James Madison
Michigan
North Carolina
Old Dominion
Penn St.
Tennessee
Virginia
Virginia Tech

The second story has us beating out Marshall, Hampton and Towson. I like the 1st grouping better. Was a bit surprised by a 4.97 time for a 6'2" 210 lb guy. Hope we got a steal.

I'm curious...where did you see the 4.97 time? On another site I thought I saw a 4.5 posted...although based on the highlight reel it sure doesn't look like he's that fast. He looks faster than 4.97, maybe a 4.7, but not 4.5, and more of a defensive player.

Sometimes you have to take the schools on those Rivals lists with a grain of salt. Basically that's who the player told them was interested and those schools look at everybody. When I was in high school we had guys who would get weekly letters and calls from Ohio State and ended up playing D3. I'm not trying to knock this guy by any means, but in honesty if he's running a 4.5 I can run a 4 flat. That highlight film looks like it's in slow motion. I'm guessing they are projecting him as a guy who will put on muscle his redshirt year and projects as an outside linebacker or a safety. He does look to have good tackling instincts and is fast and aggressive near the LOS. It's tough to make any judgement with that level of competition though. Those teams they're playing look like midget league teams. There aren't even any stands on one side of the field.

Perhaps we should start an official 2013 football recruiting thread. I can then sticky it. Or I can just change the title of this tread and do the same. What do you think?

One thing that I hope will be interesting to watch. JMU announces FBS intentions and we see an increase in attention from even better recruits. Its pretty likely we continue to recruit with the veiled promise of an upgrade even now.

I guess it was here that I saw the slow time:

Sometimes I wonder if these people are timing the kids w/ their wristwatch; the times don't match the film. If he winds up being somewhere in between those 2 times, I think he can be a good pickup. If we ever do move up, we'll need to start attracting LBs and safeties that are taller than 5'-10"-5'11" and this kid fits the bill.

Is it just me...or does it look like he isn't even trying to run at full speed? Almost like a fast jog.

I'd take him on my team.
Might not have the breakaway speed to be a tailback, but he's got quickness.
Should be a good 1AA SS.
Probably not purely fast enough to return punts at the next level.

And he seems to wrap up when he tackles, a lost art today. Hard to tell from the film how he will do fighting through blocks, but I liked what I saw.

You're right- he kind of has the Vince Young lope to him. Doesn't look like he's running fast and then you realize he's just covered 30 yds.

Nothing slow about him when he's made hits on defence. Quick, straight ahead, low tackles for the most part. He's kinda like a loping cat ... then "BAM"!
