That being true, I can't say I disagree with the first commenter on the page:

Quote:Gangs are nothing more than homeland terrorism and the members and followers have to be treated exactly the same as any organization that has intent to do harm to the people. This is not the old days of organized crime when the mob only killed each other. Until these punks are dealt with harshly and without prejudice, nothing will change.

And this is one of the reasons why I favor the decriminalization of "victimless" crimes. Someone smoking a doobie, paying for an 'escort,' gambling in a card game somewhere... who cares. Instead, turn our finite police resources to this and rip the heart out of these gangs (and decriminalizing the aforementioned soft drugs would actually be a start). And in an optimal scenario, the thugs who shot that 3-year-old would be hunted and killed, instead of going to jail for several years where they can still have their fun hanging with fellow gang members in courtyards, then released to do the same thing again.

Agree totally. Particularly the victimless crimes argument.

The gun control advocates want to solve the problem by doing everything EXCEPT what is necessary to solve the problem--punishing those gang bangers.

What is necessary is to put an education system in place that's not complete ****. What is necessary is to lower income inequality. What is necessary is to get jobs on the market.

Giving someone the chair or prison sentences doesn't help. And we already have the highest prison population per capita in the world.

At what age were you diagnosed as being completely insane? Every time we try to change the education system the left goes nuts, the unions go into high gear, and the liberal politicians can only think of one thing to do: Give them more money. Glad to admit the left has gotten it wrong all these years, so let's try our way.

How do you lower income inequality, by paying people $50 per hour to flip burgers? No matter how much money people make someone will always be making more than the person next to them and vice versa. Get over it, live within your means, or do what it takes to get a better job and that just might mean working harder than the other guy who also wants that job. And don't go to an interview 30 minutes late, dressed like a bum with face tattoos and piercings - and for Christ's sake, don't curse and speak proper English.

Jobs you say? How are those green jobs that Obama promised us coming along? And Obamacare is killing jobs and the economy, but you won't admit it.

And if prison and death sentences don't help, then what do you propose? You guys on the left wanted Zimmerman locked up for life, but every other criminal, not so much.

......and how do you propose to "put an education system in place that's not complete ****." besides throwing more money at it? Have you ever tried to teach a kid that has decided he isn't in to learning?

I agree, there are problems with the education system - but it generally works IF the parents are engaged and participate in the process.

Do you really believe that the majority of parents living on the West or South side of Chicago participate in their child's learning? Really?
