Coach Pitino had some improvements on the court and off in his first year and I think Coach Evens will continue that and get us out of the APR mess. Football is another story, not only are we bad, but I think we are about to get into an APR mess there with all the players leaving/quitting. Go F I U!

I think y'all really need a young, energetic, half-crazy guy to lead your football team and turn the ship around unless Turner turns things around.

October 5th will be a battle of the titans. 04-drinky

"The Daily Caller" Really... that is your legitimate news source????

Calling out the entire university for 1 or 2 professors, talk about blanket statement.

You had a player/student murdered on campus, does that make FIU "The DEADLIEST Campus in America!"???

It's an opinion website and even their first sentences in the articles say things like "quite possibly" and "maybe" yet these jokers take this as a legitimate source. It is laughable to say the least. TMZ must be their go to for legit news as well.

With these type of argumentative flame war pieces, you can't win. Had FAU kept Geo Group as the sponsor, they would have been ridiculed even more. Now that they drop the sponsor, they are called cowards or said to be "bowing to the pressure". Either way with these trash pieces, they are going to stay negative. And they are going to lack support on their claims as well. (IE saying a professors opinions on a blog outside the college equates to the college being the worst one in America).

RE: Serious Questions in comparing FAU and FIU development
We can go back and forth bewtween FAU and FIU fans all day. Both schools have had issues. Both IMHO have bright futures.

My opinion is that FAU is slightly ahead right now in terms of program development then FIU. Since the OP isnt a fan of either school he was curious if his perception was shared by the community. I gave some examples of why I feel FAU is making progress on this front from a fan base development standpoint. FPF posted some great videos of student life at FIU.

So lets keep it to that instead of going back and forth about how the details of how each school has screwed up. I would ask FIU fans to show in this thread the steps that your administration is taking to develop the program. How are you enticeing fans to the game despite the bad product? What advertising is being done? I like to keep CUSA fans informed of what my school is doing because as we all do better so does the confrence.

And I'll give the one thing that I thinks stands out more then anything else on why I feel that FAU's program is thriving and its fanbase is growing. We have an independently owned and operated Fan store from the univeristy that is killing it.

The signatures on the wall is the "Wall of Fame" that he allows former and current FAU ahtletes to sign. As you can see LOTS of folks have stopped by.

No, I'm not going to post random promotions that the school is doing just to clutter the space up. I think my fellow FIU fan said it best when he called that silly. Just like I didn't put up information about the student cavanas or Lime Mexican Grill being the new sponsor of FIU's beach themed court. Also, with Lime, Alfonso Field and US Century Bank being corporate sponsor for our venues, does that mean we have greater support from the business community? It's silly season stuff when we are in the middle of football season. Go F I U!

Both need to make huge upgrades to their basketball arenas though to have any hope of ever being truly competitive. They're not going to consistently attract the kind of talent that will make them competitive in the arenas they currently have.

I agree, and as FPF said FAU's is very nice inside but gave up capacity. It's listed as 5K but the remodel derinetly took up a few seats. I can't comment on FIU's as I have never been there. (Basketball isnt my thing)

I do know that in the master plan for FAU is a new 10K arena/convention center that will be built next to the football stadium. However its pretty far out I think. My understanding of current developement priorities per our AD is:

1.) New academic center for student athletes
2.) New weight room and training facillity
3.) Renovate the baseball stadium. (This should be first IMHO, but Im not in charge.)

Fair enough. Im excited by what my program is doing because we have never done anything like it before and its directly tied to the football game experience that is going to take place tommorrow.

Good luck tommorrow.

I enjoy your updates OwlFamily. I am far away from the campus now so any updates are great to see. Ignore the people that don't care.
