UH and Texas Tech announce 4-game deal
Will jml2010 survive the announcement? (I kid, I kid. )
Houston will host Texas Tech in its new Houston Football Stadium on Sept. 16, 2017, before returning the favor at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock on Sept. 15, 2018. The second portion of the series will occur on Sept. 18, 2021, (Houston) and Sept. 10, 2022 (Lubbock).
UH also signed a 2-game contract to play Kansas on Sept. 14, 2019, in Houston before traveling to Lawrence, Kan., on Sept. 12, 2020.

The Kansas deal is interesting given that they already play two games in Texas.

Tech realizes they need more of a presence in Houston.

I'm not a huge fan of this series but it will give us a chance to close the series gap they have on us.
I was a huge Leach fan but I seriously doubt Kliff will stop what is working against the coogs. For those that are unaware, Leach stopped running the ball. He also gambled on a 4th down, inside the coog 5. instead of kicking a FG that would have likely won the ballgame.

We get all the coverage we need in Houston. This will give our Houston alumni the chance to see Tech play. So yes it will be huge for our alumni who can't make it out to Lubbock during the season.
Thanks to us, UH will have a guaranteed sellout.

UH finally raised its admission requirements to surpass UNT. Good for you.

The TV ratings will be good and uh fans will claim it was because of them. Just another reason why I and many other Tech fans are against this. Nothing to gain by winning and everything to lose which is why the Aggies, Horns and Bears refuse to play uh. ( Oh, cue the "they are scared to play us" comment that will surely follow.)

I can't wait to see the idiots argue about who was the reason for the rating.

A significantly higher percentage of 2013 UH freshmen graduated in the Top 10% of their HS class than the Tech freshmen.
The 2013 UH freshmen have materially higher average SAT scores than the Tech freshmen.

It's interesting that in spite of playing 4 conference games against teams from Texas each year, KU seeks out additional Texas-opponents for its OOC schedule (Rice now, UH on the future).

Baby steps. They have to work on one set of Owls before they try to move up.
