RE: IPF Progress
I would like to see "We Are... Marshall" or "Protect The M" painted on the roof of it so that you could see it from the stadium.

Also see it from the sky. Ive flew over Huntington a few times not realizing it until I spot JCE Stadium. That would catch you eye right away.

The whole facility including the other attached buildings is $19M.

I hope not...We have a very nice practice facility that serves our needs. I would rather see them put that money into further upgrades to Dowdy-Ficklin.

The IPF will be a full 100 yard field with a 6 lane track surrounding it. Plus bleachers for spectators. Be a top notch facility for our teams. Attached will the the academic center, new sports medicine training rooms and MU HOF.

Makes a lot of sense for Marshall to have one of these with your climate....Not so much in eastern NC where it stay fairly mild most of the year. Sure we do run into some weather issue from time to time for practice but hell you have to play in it sometimes.

The field will actually be 120 yards long. Endzones are 10 yards each.

The changing of seasons can be extreme in WV. In March/April it can be 60 and sunny one day and 30 and snowing the next. Severe storms cost us practice days in the spring and during fall camp. That will no longer be the case.

In addition to football and track & field, it will also benefit baseball, softball and golf with batting/swing cages. It will also save wear and tear on the Joan's playing surface. We get new turf at JCE for next season, thankfully. It's really showing its age.

You don't practice or play games during thunderstorms...

I know Holtz wanted one, but I have heard rumblings that our current staff would like to see one as well. I don't think we will see anything new on DF until either a new conference move/shake up of NCAA FBS resulting in more money for us or endzone paid off (or possibly both).

Obviously not but honestly thunderstorms are not the issue as they are typically in and out fairly quickly. What causes us more problems are rainy game weeks where you only have a couple of days to prepare for an opponent. We have had a few of those this year where the team has had a hard time getting game prep done. I think if given the option to have one our staff would jump on it for sure. It is almost getting to the point that we will have to build an indoor facility from a recruiting standpoint since it appears most every school is building one these days.

How much is Marshall spending on your IPF ?? I think we could probably do ours cheaper because we would not really need to add other facilities into the project like an academic center or the HOF that Marshall is including with their IPF.

I think the IPF part of it is about $12M.
