Today In JMU Sports History
4.) TODAY IN JMU SPORTS HISTORY

9/18/82

In one of the most memorable events in JMU sports history, the Dukes defeated the Virginia Cavaliers 21-17. In only its fourth season with scholarship players, JMU avenged a 69-9 loss at Virginia three years earlier.

Woo Hoo! Not Wahoo.

Which makes this a good day (for a wahoo) to die (metaphorically speaking of course!).

If you know a uva person, pass on this little bit of sunshine.

Thanks 24!

RE: Today In JMU Sports History
In 1982, Albany's head football coach Bob Ford was also celebrating his 12th year. A career that would ultimately have him retire in 2013 after 43 years as the head coach at one of JMU's biggest rivals. It is a storied rivalry that dates to October 5, 2013. The Dukes will have played one game against the mighty Danes. The history is too lengthly to recount on a JMU sports message board.

Ok. Ok. I'll give it a rest. I don't want BSKB to censor me. :)

That was pretty good, actually. I can enjoy some satire/humor as well as the next guy!

I was there, though, a bit intoxicated, as I am told.

RE: Today In JMU Sports History
I wish I had read this earlier. I spent all day today at Scott Stadium interviewing UVA students for positions next Spring. I sat in one of their suites - recalling the last time I was in Scott Stadium ('83) watching Gary Clark take back 2 punts to the house and almost pulling back/back wins.
