Your OOC looks very light-weight. You should do well until you hit the conference schedule.

Tech had a game @ Alabama, but the SEC wouldn't let that happen

Good thing your schedule steps right in line with the rest of the conference. We'll have about 6 chances combined at really solid wins this season. And people think we could be a multiple bid conference...

Yeah the OOC schedules some of our conference mates have are embarrassing.

Charlotte's isn't spectacular, but we do play FSU, GT, Davidson, Kansas State, College of Charleston, and potentially more solid teams if we win against Kansas State.

Not an incredible schedule, but it's not bad and could be really great if we win a couple games in Puerto Rico.

La Tech could go undefeated in OOC play and still not get an at-large bid with a schedule like that.

Edit: I missed the Oklahoma game, but its still pretty 'meh.' I stand by my comment than that OOC schedule will make it difficult to get an at large.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, & St Mary's?

Those are indeed three good programs, but other than that there isn't even a decent team on the OOC.

The good thing about OU, OSU, and St. Mary's is that they are all quality programs, but all beatable as well.

Yeah, right now Charlotte's looks to be about the best. If every team had a schedule like that, we'd be okay.

UAB has guaranteed games against Rutgers(H), LSU(A), New Mexico(Charleston, then maybe another decent game or two, but I think New Mexico is the team that highlights the field), and UNC(H), but past that it's a bunch of nothing. If UAB somehow won all of its OOC games, there is probably enough there for an at-large, but that isn't realistic. I just hope after this year, we all figure out a way to strengthen our schedules. I still don't understand why we can't work something out with the MAC/MWC/A-10/etc. to create some kind of tournament with our similarly ranked teams.

RE: Tech releases 2013-2014 basketball schedule
The key to a good OOC schedule at this level is really to get only a 2-3 big conference schools to play you and then filling in most of the other spots with respectable mid majors. Stick to D1 programs with RPI's lower than 200 for 75% of your OOC schedule and you'll be alright. For the remaining 25% break it up evenly among 200+ RPI, 100-150 RPI, and top 100 RPI teams.

CUSA needs to adopt a policy that does not allow schools to schedule anyone other than D1 programs.

The A10 did this (and implemented several other scheduling rules) shortly after Charlotte joined and it helped the conference significantly.

When you play a weak ooc schedule, but win all or most of the games, it's bad for your RPI...but actually good for the conference RPI do to that stout W/L record that the other conference teams get as part of their SOS weight when they play you.

C-USA does have incentives/penalties tied to Men's Basketball scheduling and have had it for a long time, obviously it needs to be increased and maybe more people would have better OOC.

I know what you're getting at, but several schools in CUSA schedule non-D1 games.

We might be one of the only schools in CUSA this year that doesn't have DII/NAIA games scheduled.

I agree there should be no non D1/"buy games" scheduled. Helps the overall league RPI.

If the SEC won't schedule us that makes it tough. We're in CUSA, we've scheduled two belt schools and two big12 schools. I guess we either have to schedule more belt and big 12 or travel the country.
