Uh-oh. A whole lot of folks in SA and South Texas are gonna be pissed when they find out they're actually "non-Mexicans." 03-lmfao

More grasping, lol. Now Chico's defines what El Paso considers tacos and flautas and whether or not we embrace our Mexican heritage? Too funny. Once second we are 'just like Mexico' and the next we are guilty of not embracing our heritage. Little brothers are so funny when they are trying to make a point. Cute even.

Whoa. Think you read a little too much into that exchange. Just noting a regional difference. Nobody said EP doesn't embrace Mexican heritage. Marine just noted, correctly, that even the non-Mexicans here embrace it. 04-cheers

You people from San Antonio need to learn more about Mexican food... Those are Tacos, Flautas is more of a tex-mex thing. In the interior of Mexico they never used flour tortillas, they used corn. Flautas are made from flour tortillas and fried, tacos are corn tortillas that are fried... My mother was born in Mexico City, she had never had a flour tortilla until she came over here. The Taco bell soft tacos are not really tacos... You guys need to quit frying chicken and get back to your roots, no wonder the San Antonio Mexican food isn't so good

Older sisters have a tendency to blow things out of proportion. Atleast you calmed her down though.

My fam is from Guadalajara and we call those taquitos.

+1 on the Taco Bell "tacos" though. Shredded cheese, lettuce and sour cream on a taco? GTFO.

I've never had a flauta with a flour tortilla, only corn. Up until the point in the video when they covered them in sauce, the tacos are indistinguishable from what we call flautas. YMMV.

And now I'm hungry again. We need another thread just to talk Mexican food smack. 03-lmfao

I was born in Mexico and spent my early childhood there. I never had a flauta that was made with a flour tortilla nor seen one. It was always corn.

By the way, I have family in Guanajuato and they do use flour tortillas there, homemade and all but only for special occasions. I visited them quite a few times.

Maybe you El Pasonians need to learn exactly what Tex-Mex and Mexican food are. Know the difference in both.

Man, now you're telling me that Mexican food is different in the various regions of Mexico, too? 01-france

If they call those tacos, I wonder how their hamburgers look like? They probably use ham instead of beef. Just looking at those tacos (flautas), it makes me want to go to the restroom.

Yep! In some regions of Mexico they wrap their tamales in plantain leaves instead of corn husks and are also more squared.

those aren't flautas... Tacos = corn.... Flour tortillas originated in northern Mexico, over time, yes they've made their way to the interio

Some places call them taquitos, it is just the diminutive of tacos...

I think you've discovered something there. Their sign says they serve hamburgers, hotdogs and "burritos".

I've never had donkey meat before, but after having ate in San Antonio, I imagine that is what it must taste like
