and it's halftime in Blacksburg...
Marshall 21, Virginia Tech 14.
Seems they can possibly beat VA Tech but they can't beat OHIO! LOL
if the Terd win this game, imagine the lament from the OHIO loss that will continue to flow from Mr. Landon's pen!

Virginia Tech has really fallen apart since that loss to Boise State a few years ago at Fed Ex.
VT is regressing back to the level of programs like East Carolina and Marshall. Its time for Frank Beamer to hang it up and once that happens they'll probably be even worse.
Also North Texas is playing #9 Georgia tough in the first half tougher than they played Ohio.....
What this all says to me is that Ohio is still basically in 2011/2012 form regardless of the beatdown to open the season at Louisville. Louisville has dominated every game they've played thus far and are a legit Top 5 team.

How does this guy feel about losing to Middle Tennessee last night? Maybe they should stop scheduling former Sun Belt teams. Oh wait, they can't.

Yeah, it's never ever that the opponent played well or with more heart...it's always the Herd losing to an inferior opponent (OU, MTSU, etc) because they are outcoached or something. I saw some comments on the C-USA board with Herd fans lamenting that their team plays poorly on the road in front of mostly empty stadiums.....my first thought was 1), hey OU had a sell out when they beat 'ya, and 2) you better get used to empty stadiums in the "new" C-USA. (aka revamped SunBelt)

Maybe Ohio should be upset that they didn't beat an inferior Marshall team by more.

If I was Marshall, I'd figure the CUSA was a sinking ship and plan to act like a rat and abandon it. If a MAC invite came along, they should leap at it.
Looking at the Sagarin conference ratings, CUSA West is above MAC East and MAC West, and CUSA East is below them. And with the teams leaving CUSA, Marshall better get used to the trips to Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Florida, etc. What's the closest team to Marshall in CUSA? Middle Tennessee? East Carolina? Thems would be nice rivalries for them:)
Wait - East Carolina will be bailing out too. Western Kentucky's taking their place, that'll be a good rivalry.
Marshall should be looking at the MAC - there's about 8 closer teams in the MAC than their closest partners in the CUSA.

They can look at the MAC all they want. We don't want them. We made that mistake twice already.

He states the Marshall offenses of the 90's created a "national brand". Did I sleep through an entire decade of college football?

Marshall was all that for a few years in the late 90's and the very early part of the last decade.. Big names great seasons and some nice upsets.
But it was a flash in the pan..
