2) I wonder what the ratings were in Houston for the NFL game Thursday night. Thursday NFL football game between New England and the Jets on a limited cable network couldn't be that great - nobody gives a crap about either team in Houston.

3) College football can do well against the NFL Network on Thursday nights if the teams are national brands. Tech and TCU are not national brands. If the A&M v Bama game were on Thursday against the NFL Network - the NFL would've been smoked. Nationwide cable network vs a Buffalo Wild Wings dine-out network, no contest.

4) What the 500 or so threads re: Houston ratings in this realignment forum tells me: It's clear Houston loves big time SEC football, Texas, Notre Dame and sometimes OU - if they're playing Texas or the Irish (like the rest of the country). Everything else is channel surfing.

1. Houston is our biggest TV market in the Big 12. We still do well there despite losing a&m and not adding uh. Yes, I graduated from Tech and UNT and it is important to see how the Big 12 does in Houston.

2. The NFL will almost always beat college in most pro cities. Houston is no different.

3. Texas and TCU drew a 2.2 in Houston last year on Thanksgiving night going against the NFL which kind of defeats your national brand theory. Most Universities can't beat the NFL in NFL cities. It is what it is. I'm not worried about our ratings in Houston and neither or our TV partners

RE: Year to date 2013 Houston TV ratings
Since you're the expert in Houston ratings - or at least play on online, could you please find the NFL ratings for the Thursday night game btwn the Pats and Jets? I have no clue where you get your info or if it's correct, but figured you have your sources or sites you frequent by the minute. I know I didn't watch - never do watch any NFL Network games. That channel sucks more than the BTN.

Maybe the Texas v TCU ratings were low because people in Houston care more about A&M, especially since its move to the SEC. Maybe I should remove them from the national brand listing in my head - which is all knowing.

The Chronicle hasn't in the past listed NFL Thursday night games.

Here is your proof
http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2013/...-saturday/

Quote:And here are the local numbers for programs to which have access for ratings:

Friday – Angels-Astros, CSNH, 0.4; Air Force-Boise State, ESPN, 0.7.

Saturday – Angels-Astros, CSNH, 0.04; Alabama-Texas A&M, Ch. 11, 17.3; UCLA-Nebraska, Ch. 13, 3.2; Tennessee-Oregon, Ch. 13, 0.9; Notre Dame-Purdue, Ch. 13, 2.9; Ohio State-California, Ch. 26, 1.0; Louisville-Kentucky, ESPN, 1.4; Nevada-Florida State, ESPN, 0.2; Vanderbilt-South Carolina, ESPN, 0.6; Wisconsin-Arizona State, ESPN, 0.6; College GameDay, ESPN, 1.4; College Football Today, Ch. 11, 4.9; A’s-Rangers, Ch. 26, 0.1; Chelsea-Everton, Ch. 2, 0.4; BMW Championship, Ch. 2, 0.8.

Sunday – Astros-Angels, CSNH, 0.1; Titans-Texans, Ch. 11, 24.8; Broncos-Giants, Ch. 11, 18.2; Saints-Buccaneers, Ch. 26, 3.6; 49ers-Seahawks (including rain delay), Ch. 2, 11.9; Football Night in America (6:30-7 p.m.), 4.8; Fox NFL Sunday, Ch. 26, 2.2; The NFL Today, Ch. 11, 5.1; Sunday NFL Countdown, ESPN, 1.6; Yankees-Red Sox, ESPN, 0.1; LPGA Evian Masters, Ch. 2, 0.1; BMW Championship, Ch.2, 0.5.

Despite being 90 miles from College Station, Houston has never been an a&m town. They are catching a little success with johnny autograph but things will go back to normal once he leaves. The t-shirts that follow the horns when they are winning is undeniable and Houston has a ton of them.

Jeffraider2000 just loves providing lists of numbers from his mom's basement.

Maybe he can supply ratings numbers for the Lubbutt market next.

01-wingedeagle03-zzz05-mafia Not this crap again.

I would love to give that info but TV execs aren't interested in that. They are more interested in the numbers we get in Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Austin. Same thing with College Station, Stillwater etc, TV execs don't care about those markets but rather their alumni who invade big cities once they graduate.

Numbers don't lie, A&M and the SEC are tops in Houston!

Texas viewers now have a choice for P5 football instead of just the B12 by default and it turns out they prefer the SEC!

RE: Year to date 2013 Houston TV ratings
Houston viewers prefer to see quality football between power conferences. They could care less about the smaller schools with virtually no fan base to speak of.

I do offer congrats on finally beating an almost 5 year record. Just reaffirms my statement that Houstonians and Texans want to watch power football. Doesn't matter if its the SEC or Big 12.

Keep telling yourself that. Houston fans want to see A&M, UT and UH. After that, they want to see offbrand SEC games, Notre Dame games, then offbrand Big 12 games. Occasionally, another game will sneak in the ratings if it is nationally important.

1 season and a couple weeks does not make a trend?
