MD is planning ahead by saying EIU is good. After the HUSKIES pound EIU, he will say EIU is better than any team the Big Ten beat so NIU should be ranked higher.

That certainly fits the MD MO...

That is not my moviation, Im legitimately scared about EIU, and Carey has said its the toughest game on our schedule so far. Pretty bold statement by Carey. Not much line action I see online but betonline has it as NIU -10.5. 10.5 is too high at this point, I think it should be somewhere in the 6 to 8 range.

Shouldn't the Huskies be underdogs? EIU IS AWESOME!!!!

Totally agree, was thinking the same. EIU throws 7 TDs...and still loses by 20-some, gotta like it!

Let's be honest, what the hell do we know....we all thought NIU was gonna run roughshot over Idaho.....I don't care if EIU has played well against some crappy teams, NIU at home should manhandle them....we just won in Kinnick, this game at home shouldn't be troubling....NIU gets the engines running here and our defensive athleticism shows in the second half....NIU 63 EIU 38

If there is one thing going the Huskies way, if EIU wins it wont be because they snuck up on anyone. Everyone is aware now what they are capable of, it will be because they are the better team. I think this is going to be a great football game and highly entertaining.

EIU Predictions
I'm sorry but if we are supposed to be top 25 material and there is no surprise factor of EIU being a capable opponent then we should blast then without question. Especially at home.

I agree, I think traveling to Idaho was tough on the team, a lot of bus rides, long flight, totally got the team out of rhythm, throw in the dome and weird environment and the Huskies were just trying to get out of there. I think Huskies at home and a good week of practice, no penalties and the D playing better the dogs should hang some numbers on them. But hey, what do I know, this is college football, it's like trying to guess your daughters mood day to day.

I guess I do not understand this mindset especially coming from our perspective. Did not we just see Iowa fans disregarding NIU's chances because it was a smaller conference and that a Big Ten team "should never lose to a MAC team at home". We knew NIU had comparable talent to Iowa even though Iowa fans were not willing to look objectively at it. This is the same case with EIU, you cannot ignore that computer and statistical rankings have them as the 2nd toughest opponent on our schedule outside of Toledo. You just can't ignore that. If EIU were playing MSU at a neutral site this weekend, I'd take the Panthers, no question. It is not a smack in the face to the Huskies to say its going to be a close game with a chance to lose. EIU is playing at a top 40 or 50 FBS level right now, very similar to the huskies.

RE: EIU Predictions
What does Iowa have to do with NIU and EIU? NIU and Iowa have very similar talent levels across the board. They've played 8 quarters of football the last two seasons, and NIU was 2 points better. The Iowa fans saying "you should never lose to a MAC school" were ignoring any sort of facts.

Here are the facts: EIU has a really strong offense, a terrible defense, and have given up a lot of sacks in three games. NIU has the longest home winning streak in the country, an extremely high powered offense, and has 11+ games the last three seasons! EIU is not playing at a similar level to NIU. There is a talent gap. EIU has really good skill players on offense, but the difference will be the line play of the two teams (and Jordan Lynch).

If EIU was playing a mid level MAC team, they would absolutely have a realistic shot. I think they're on par with a CMU. They'll hang in for awhile, but NIU pulls away in the 2nd half.

Somebody do this for me: show me a position on the field where you would trade the player(s) NIU has for the player(s) EIU has.

Yeah, EIU has a really good QB. Would you trade Lynch for him? Not a chance in hell.

It is hard to tell if EIU is at a Toledo or BSU level, but I think they would handily beat any other team in the conference right now with the exception of BG. I am sure EIU fans are thinking they have talent comparable to NIU at this point just like we did with Iowa. I think you might be right that NIU pulls away late, but I just think people are not being fair to NIU by saying we have to win by 35, people have to acknowledge this is not a typical FCS team. Carey's comment about this being the toughest team we have played, that is a pretty big time statement for a coach to make saying an FCS team is better than the Big 10's Iowa.

RE: EIU Predictions
I think the key to this game will be NIU getting out to a fast start. The crowd should be rocking so if we get out early it will be tough for EIU to play from behind and we should wear them down as the game goes on. The problem with Idaho was the fast start that caused us to play catchup. If we get out early at home I don't see any way EIU wins this game.

The only people who have ever said NIU needs to beat anyone by any amount of points was dopes like you with their head so far up their asses about the Top 25/BCS that they don't know what day it is.

Win the game. That's all.

Idaho and EIU are worlds and worlds apart. NIU should have beaten Idaho by 4 touchdowns because that was a very bad football game, EIU is not. For EIU, Win the game, no style points. Idaho was a different matter.

If Fresno keeps winning, is there any chance at passing them based on beating the hell out of everyone? If not, then "just winning" really is the only thing that matters.
