OT - Syracuse is dumb
One amazing thing that I just saw on SportsNetwork was that Syracuse was playing Wagner. I thought it was very odd since I know there is a threshold for I-AA game to count for I-A teams - and the NEC does not meet that. So I needed to look up if there was a rule change. Nope.
I think Syracuse has the dumbest athletic directors in the country. They actually asked Wagner if a game with them would count towards bowl eligibility and Wagner said, "Ummmm....sure." And Syracuse just believed them! So now Wagner gets a paycheck game and Syracuse gets what amounts to a 3rd loss. Would it really be that hard to call the NCAA and ask if the game works? Or read the rule book? Or go to a message board?

For a game to count towards bowl eligibility, a I-AA team has to average 56.7 scholarships (90% of the 63 limit) over the course of 2 consecutive seasons. The NEC limit is 40, so it's not even close.
For all of our complaints about Bourne - justified or unjustified - this is worse. This is just as incompetent as Georgia Southern trying to mail playoff bids weeks after the deadline had passed.

you'd think they'd have a list of approved FCS schools somewhere on their network.

Ha. They could have just as easily put it out there on CSn, Caazone or AGS, Cs, wherever and gotten an answer within a nano-second. That's amazing.
*does anyone say nano-second anymore?
