I hope they have more people stationed where they sell food. Spent 45 min in line last year for some food. We didn't bring anything because we wanted to support it with our cash.

RE: 2nd Annual Oktoberfest at Huskie Stadium - Saturday, Sept 21st - Home Opener
Can anyone tell me, honestly, if this would be a good event to bring my 14 year old daughter to? Not crazy about her being in the middle of a drink-fest (where Daddy will partake), but I'm wondering if there is some family style to this, or is it just a high end college drink-fest? She loves country music too (ugh..).

I doubt many of the students will go in here. They will keep to the East side for their free tailgating parking.

I am trying to get the Grotto to erect a tent at Huskie Stadium this year. The "entertainment" will be family-oriented. (After all, that's how families are formed, right?) We will have specially-shaped lollipops and popsicles for the kiddies, a bit more risqué treats for mom and dad, and free items to take home and enjoy in the privacy of your domicile. I expect long lines because there will be no reservations but rather, "first come, first served". For the usual Grotto VIPs, the tent will have a special rear entrance.

As with ALL Grotto-sponsored events, there will be NO dress code! It's "come as you are." However, clothes of some sort WILL be required, since this is being billed as family-friendly.

Last year it was pretty mild, anything but a drinkfest. Of course, the line for food/drink was long so I'm not sure you could have drunk that much even if you wanted to.

Yeah, but tailgating will end at what time?

I suspect the students will go elsewhere after tailgating ends.

There will be more stations for food this year. Quite frankly everyone involved with the planning last year did not expect there would be such an overwhelming number of people wanting to eat.

Sounds good. With the little ones its easier to buy something than grill or being food ourselves.

Many people have no idea about the Alumni Village at homecoming. College tents are setup between east of Huskie Stadium and the Alumni Center. FREE food and soft drinks in a variety of tents! Marching band comes through about one hour before game time. Best deal is free Italian Beefs, cookies, and chips in the Engineering tent. Perfect place for parents and kids to hang out for a couple of hours.
