That may be true, but you don't have to answer every question posed to you. Discretion can be your friend. By putting this out there, he threw the kid's mom under the proverbial bus. I'm sure she can handle it, but don't forget we're talking about a high school kid in the middle of this.

IMHO kid never would have said his mom didn’t want him to go to Memphis if she didn’t say it. At least that’s my thinking. My guess is JM figured it the same way and thus reported it.

Since he did not tape the interview, what you have is a "he said, she said" version of why. Without corroboration, it is hard to know the truth. As a rule, the press is not always known for only printing the truth in a straight forward manner, without interjecting their own slant / agenda.

I don't get why the mom is so ticked off. It basically took all the pressure off the kid which is the important part. If I were in her shoes, I'd WANT all the burden to be on me. Anyone with a brain isn't mad at the kid. Hell if he's got that many offers from big schools, nobody expected him to pick us anyway.

Just how does one "ban" someone from coming on to campus ?

Instead of posting the obvious "he shouldn't go around reporting everything he hears" --- why not argue against what he did report, which doesn't seem 'bad' at all to me. In fact, this seems to be mostly about mom's reaction.

FWIW, this group of coaches is casting their nets a LOT farther, and deeper, than even last year's group, IMO. A bunch more "mentions" this year compared to last .........and it is still early in the evaluation period. I am very optimistic about 2014.....really! Lotta good stuff happening.
